Me too! I seriously thought he was lying about all of it. I mean, how come he never seemed to go to any practices? He just went out on dates right after school.

He was probably intramural.

That would've been a perfect outcome. As it was, the book made no sense at all.

I just read this for the first time a few days ago, and this is probably the weirdest, most unrealistic and confusing BSC book I've read thus far. I mean...it just screams creepy stalker for one, and we never ever got an explanation of WHY Travis was doing what he was doing. It just ended with Dawn "giving him what he deserved", but really...how can we know what he deserved if we never even knew his intentions. Maybe i missed something?

I reread this one recently, hoping it would make more sense to me this time, but it's still the weirdest one I've read. It just makes no sense whatsoever. Why would Travis stop by after just having met Dawn for a few minutes? Why did he give her gifts?? I just don't understand... anything about this book. And the subplot was way too obvious - omg! it's the exact same thing happening but dawn doesn't notice it!

I just re-read this book and I'm still as confused about it as ever. Travis is a creep. I agree with those of you who thought he was exaggerating his stories, when I was re-reading it, I was CRINGING at how freaking egotistical this guy was.
The Lewis thing at the end was weird cause he doesn't show up in Stoneybrook til like 20 books later.
I find it odd how embarrassed the BSC girls are to discuss boys/boy problems with their friends. They always have to force them to spill the beans!

^ I was kind of shy about mentioning guys I liked to people in middle school. Then again, I wasn't as close to my friends as Dawn is to hers.

It would have made more sense if in the books afterwards it was casually mentioned that Dawn had been writing to him, but they just kind of stopped talking about him completely until they decided he was going to come to Stoneybrook in Dawn's Big Date.

i love to read this book if only to make fun of it because it's probably the worst book i've read in the entire series. but i love the line about dawn being a beauty. and i love how dawn is always such a crazy stalker.

When I was in junior high, when I liked a guy, I always kept it a secret from my friends for as long as I possibly could. Then, whenever I told them or they guessed or found out some other way, I wouldn't shut up about him.

Haha, I don't remember that line! She should have added the required "not to be conceited or anything". I swear, she does, doesn't she? Not out loud, but in the narration? I haven't seen my copy of the book for years, and I could swear I remember that.

^She does, kind of. After she says it, she tells the reader that she knew it was very conceited of her.
