The trains I've taken the most are the 123, the ACE and the NRQW. It all just comes down to the places I've stayed when I'm there.
The Union Square station does have the light up boards.

John Rocker? I think the DC metro is really nice (IT'S SO CLEAN), but every time my parents visit me, they find something to complain about. Last time it was how slowly the ticket machines operate, but my mother has been known to be resentful of the fact that service isn't 24/7, even though I don't think my parents have ever stayed past sunset when coming to see me.

at least they have machines instead of long lines and a grumpy babushka sitting in booths who get mad when you don't give them exact change. my life has improved substantially since i purchased the monthly all-transport card.

???Question: Do people at math competitions really get excited enough to cheer and "go wild" and lift people on there shoulders when they win? I've never been to a math meet and I hate math so I'm wondering.
Once again, the little kids in town go nuts over something the BSC are involved in. ::)Does the BSC dictiate trends to their charges?
I'm glad that the portrayel of Stacey's bad attitude toward the mathletes in the beginning was so extreme. She made several snobbish references to what dorks the mathletes were in the beginning and then defended them to the BSC in the end when the BSC did the same thing. If TPTB were going to do the whole I'm Sooo Above/Too Cool For This thing only to have Stacey change her mind in the end, I'm glad Peter L. put several remarks in the book and not just a one or two. It seems some books they don't push an issue enough and I have to rely on seeing the same storyline elsewhere to understand how "serious" I'm suppose to take it. Am I making sense to anyone?

I liked Stacey the Math Whiz. I didn't bother solving the problems since math is my worst subject. But I will admit I liked the all problems, even the last one. Maybe Stacey was able to figure out the last problem due to Claudia’s talent for art. If the previous sentence is true, I don't know whether to find that funny or frightening.

I liked this one despite not being a Stacey fan. I had the unfortunate experience of being forced onto a math team in sixth grade, and the meets were definitely nothing like a sporting event. I don't think even parents were there except a few chaperones. We didn't scope out the competition ahead of time, lol. They were seriously some of the most miserable moments of my school years, but I won't bore you with the details. Anyway, I liked how the math problems were included in the story. If nothing else it was nice to have a different kind of book after 100+ of the same cookie cutter formula.
I liked the parts with Claudia and Lindsay. Loved Franklin's WTF is going on here attitude. Hated that the other BSC members forced the situation onto Claudia when they knew she was so unsure of herself and can't believe Kristy would be fine with switching tutors without contacting the parents first. I'm happy that Claudia succeeded with her job and that they showed with Stacey/Lindsay that just because you are good at something doesn't mean you are good at teaching it to other people.
My favorite part was Claudia's notebook entry about her first tutoring session. She calls herself Claudia the Tooter. Hee hee. Claudia's gassy.

This book is an example of when it rains, it pours (for Stacey, that is). Edward McGill always has the worst timing.

Stacey's dad always wanted her to himself when she needed to do important things, like participate in the math team, look for her friends who went missing at sea, wanting to be at home with her mom when she was sick and so forth

Macca your summation on page one is perfect! This book was so boring (I'm not a math fan). Like others on here, I can't fanthom the sudden hyper-interest in math among the young kids of the BSC. Especially because, of course, it was a one-time subplot. I thought Claudia tutoring Lindsey had potential since I really liked her helping Shea and always hoped the two of them would become friends. Claudia's Friend was genuine this seemed forced. The weirdest part was Stacey's dad cooking (a fancy) dinner for Maureen. It was a very nice gesture just strange.

I love math - I know I know very nerdy. In fact, I minored in it in college - super nerd right here! However, I never saw a bunch of people get pumped to do some math. I don't think that would ever happen in real life! I was super annoyed by Stacey's dad in this one. It seems to be like he only wants to be a dad when it's convenient for him. I felt bad for Stacey when he said he couldn't make a meet b/c of his new job...ugh! Don't say you are a changed man if you're just going to jump right back in to work!

My school's math program had a Problems Society that met on FRIDAY EVENINGS to do math problems FOR FUN. There wasn't even free food.

is it really possible for someone who only joined the team at the end of the season (for like a month) to accumulate more points than every single other competitor in the entire state? i don't know how long the mathletes season lasts (i did every other knowledge group except for math :] ) but i just don't see how a newcomer could rack up points that quickly when she's already so far behind in points at the start.

i thought the points came from standardized test scores.

if it came from standardized test scores, how did stacey earn points at the last mathletes meet? the coach (can't remember her name) said "by answering the question correctly, she got points and has the most in the state!"
