^ I never read it like that but reading your post about it just gave me a good laugh ;D I think the lemonade stand thing might be from Jessi's Gold Medal but still haven't checked ;D I love the Popeye and banana (no matter how disgusting ;D) parts of this one. I think this is one of my top 20 favorite BSC books.

I knew someone who would pronounce 'Little Miss Stoneybrook... and Dawn' to the "Shave and a haircut... two bits" tune, you know that tune you knock a door to. ;D

i always say the title of this book really dramatically in my head. "little miss stoneybrook (long pause).....AND DAWN." Haha, me too! I do that for almost all of the ones with punctuation in the titles. "Logan Likes Mary Anne [ZOMG!!!!!!]" "Sea City, [ready or not], HERE WE COME!" I'm such a dork.

Hehe. I do the exact same thing with Little Miss Stoneybrook. Also with "Goodbye, Stacey...goodbye."

"good-bye stacey good-bye" sounds very wistful in my mind.

This discussion is interesting as I never pay much attention to how I say the title names. When I even see the title of this book, though, I think "I'm Popeye the Sailor Man!" over and over ;D

I love this book, especially the part where Claire says she would rescue 'global peace and the fire extinguisher' if there was a fire.
When I was a kid, I thought it was weird that the books made such a big deal of how incredibly talented and clever the Perkins girls were. Now that I know they were based on Ann's friend's children, it makes a lot more sense. I wonder if the real Myriah got picked on in school over her appearances in the series, most notably this book? The kids in my class would have had a field day if I'd appeared in a book where I was singing and dancing like a pro along with giving anti-war lectures.
Another weird thing that occurred to me - Kristy is based on Ann's friend Beth, right? Is this the same friend who is the mother of Myriah and Gabbie? If it is, then whenever Kristy babysits for them, she's babysitting for her own future self's children. They even live in her old house! cOsMic!

^Haha, too funny!
Yeah, Kristy's based on Beth Perkins. And Beth's maiden name is McKeever, which accounts for the Mrs. McKeever that appears in Kristy's Great Idea.

Actually, really funny, kitkat!!

In my head, I pronounce it all sing-songy like someone making fun of Logan for liking MA: "Logan Likes Mary Aa-anne!" That's how I say it in my head too ;D. I'm really and truly surprised that Dawn didn't have any traumatic nightmares after that pageant and the days leading up to it. Just reading about all the banana peeling with the feet and the constant Popeye song and Claire getting all annoying with her talent (which I think was her saying the rhyme, "This is the house that Jack built") made me dizzy. Poor Charlotte. I felt so bad for her when she cried and ran off the stage. I'm surprised that none of the BSC charges won and that Sabrina Bouvier, someone totally new to the scene, did (although she's not so new about 20 or so books later when she suddenly undergoes an age transplant and is suddenly an SMS student lol).

Claire's talent was the Popeye song. Margo's was peeling the banana and reciting the House that Jack Built.
I find it weird now that Sabrina Bouvier, who sounded like one of the pageant girls I generally associate with the Southern USA, with the big hair, makeup and fancy clothes, would be competing in a local, "open" pageant like Little Miss Stoneybrook. It didn't occur to me as a kid, but now I find it odd. In my more cynical moments I wonder if Ann was trying to hammer home the idea that pageants are unfeminist and are more about "presentation" than actual talent.

^ Were Claire and Margo really talented, though? ;D But I guess Myriah was pretty talented. How old was Sabrina? I can't remember if she was older or not. I loved it when Karen said one of the things she would save in the fire was Andrew. ;D I thought that was very considerate. ;D I can't hear Popeye anymore without thinking of this book. ;D

I think Claire had a talent for singing... but it was her choice of song that was the problem... Dawn wanted her to sing something like Somewhere Over the Rainbow, but Claire was like, "No! The Popeye song is my best song!" ;D
