Logan is disappointed in Stacey's Ex Best Friend because Mary Anne refuses to dance with him at the Valentines Day Dance. Hehe was funny when Laine questions MA on what she and Logan do at dances and MA says "Oh eat, walk around, talk to people..." ;D

^ It always drove me crazy how kids would go to dances and not dance. I guess it's fun for some people but..... Makes me smile when I think about how I just asked my little cousin if she had fun at her first 8th grade dance and she said that she had a great time - didn't go with anyone or dance with any boys but her and her friends just stayed out on the dance floor the whole night dancing and having fun (then of course she added that she was performing all of her "moves" and is an AWESOME dancer - no confidence problems for her ;D) I probably would have been the same way but never even bothered to go to dances. As for this book, it's one of my favorites. I love the subplot of Jamie being scared of the ghosts. That is the subplot that made me start liking the Newtons, I think.

Austin Bentley was Claudia's date. I thought it was weird in this book that it was Grace instead of Cokie with the crush on Logan.

^ It was Grace? I always remember that Cokie was the one who liked him but I'm probably wrong since it's been a while since I've read it. Agree that does seem weird since it's usually Cokie who's obsessed with Logan. Was she just helping Grace try to get MA in this book, then? I always pictured her as too selfish to do something that didn't directly involve her. Then again, she is jealous of the BSC anyway so in a way, it did benefit her to cause problems for them.

^ I think it was just another inconsistency. They make it quite clear in other books that Cokie is the one who has wanted Logan since he started at SMS.

That's why I was like "huh." Cokie was helping Grace try to steal Logan this time. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around.

^ Another inconsistency with names. Why doesn't that surprise me ;D But now I'm intrigued and will have to reread. This is one of my favorites, anyway.

This one could have been a mystery I never picked up on that Grace/Cokie mix up! This one is quite good

^ I think this was one of those mysteries that was published before they made a special mystery series. Like Mystery Diary and Dance School Phantom. Agree it is a good mystery. Is this the one where the bird flies down the Pikes' chimney and Claire thinks it's related to Santa Claus? ;D She always makes me laugh. I'm looking foward to rereading this one for Halloween.

^^Claire was cute in that chapter. I just found this at a fair, and reread it for the first time in several years. The Grace-Cokie thing confused me too. Aside from that, I liked this book.

I just reread and didn't find the Grace thing confusing anymore. It makes sense to me that Grace would be the first one to develop the crush on Logan and then Cokie liked him later so Grace backed off. Cokie seems like the kind of "friend" who wouldn't let Grace have anything - including her own crush - for long without taking it over. That might even be why Cokie developed the crush on Logan later. I love this book, especially the Jamie chapter with being scared of Georgie and the Pike chapter. I really like how there are quite a few baby-sitting chapters in this one with my favorite clients. ;D

it always confuses me the way they use the term "jerk" in this book. i've always known it to mean somebody who acts obnoxious and rude, but in BSC land it seems to mean "loser". like, cokie says she wanted to make mary anne and them look like jerks in front of logan. it never made sense to me.

Yup, me too. Like when Kristy said Watson's behavior was jerky. Or when Dawn runs into Price Irving in the hall in Snowbound and gets embarrassed and in her head she's like, "You are such a jerk!" You...didn't do anything, Dawn
