I've thought of that, too, one author for each character. I think it would've been a much better idea. I mean, for the other characters in ne book they just follow 'chapter two' anyway.

This had some funny stuff in it. I laughed when Dawn and Mary Anne were fighting and Dawn yelled something like "You have a boy haircut!" Then Dawn left the room and Mary Anne thought she was a witch. Too bad she didn't say that out loud.
At the end Dawn said a lot of her jealousy was from seeing Mary Anne and her dad having such a good time together because Dawn missed her dad. Dawn left for California not long after that. I'm kinda surprised that they actually foreshadowed that, and with a ghost writer no less!

A boy haircut AND clown makeup! classic This book really annoyed me. Well no, I loved it, but the BSC were absolute cows. When I was 16 I cut off all my long hair into a short style and I can't even imagine my friends being all like 'Oh, it's ok, it'll grow out' when I showed them. I'd have punched them... it's just such an awful thing to say! That was just horrible, especially considering Mary Anne is so shy.

^ There didn't even seem to be a good reason for the BSC to be so bitchy! It's just hair, for crying out loud! She's still Mary Anne!

The BSC were complete cows. Why did they give her such hassle about not asking them to the salon with her? I mean wtf do they have to do flipping everything together? It was a reasonable explanation that she wanted to spend time with her dad (I also love reading their shopping trip and the food makes my mouth water!). But then again this is BSCland where any form of bonding with parents is forbidden I laughed at Claudia and Stacey's reactions, because you just know that they just can't bear the idea of anyone else being more "sophisticated" than them or getting more attention ;D Also, what the hell was Dawn's problem? The whole boy haircut and clown makeup thing and many other stupid comments she made made me realise what a jealous cow she can be (think of Dawn's Wicked Stepsister and Dawn and the We love Kids Club). I wanted to slap her, or at least have Mary Anne slap her when she picked up the phone and told Logan in such a bitchy way, along with her little comments and glares and silences... but remember she is the girl who made up the rhyme "Traitor traitor Claudia we hate 'er" ;D Carolyn's time machine was cute, loved the little Back to the Future references (one of my favourite movies .

I just reread this one. Well skim-read and skipped the sub-plot rather. I don't understand why Mary Anne lets Dawn be so mean to her. I would have told her where to shove her alfalfa sprout a lot sooner.
As for the BSC for supposedly being such good friends they sure do turn their backs on each other fairly often.

^^ Don't you understand? MA is so shyyyyy and sensitive that she'd never want to do anything else but cry like a giant, crying thing. God, she annoys me in this book.
Actually, MA was one of my favorites when I was younger, but reading the books now, she's so passive aggressive I just can't stand it.

Ooh I want to re-read this so bad. I remember being OBSESSED with this book when I was a kid. I adored it. It's still one of my favorites. I love how MA becomes all cute and stylish (although I do think she's one of the cutest girls even early on in the series) and the BSC turn against her for it. They're such bitches. Not a single one of them has the sense to be like "hey Claudia changes her stupid hair, make up and clothes everyday and we never yell at her for it!"? and realize how stupid they're being? I haven't read this in a while... whats up with Mal and Jessi in it? They don't get mad at MA do they? I'm kinda thinking they just sit back trying not to get involved, as usual.

Yeah, Mal and Jessi sort of don't exist in this book.

At some point MA makes a comment about how Mal and Jessi aren't really involved at all but otherwise as Jen said they might as well be wallpaper.

^^ That's because they're only junior members, and can't sit nights unless they're sitting for their families.
Cows. They make fun of MA when she mentioned that she was just thinking of getting her hair cut, but then they proceeded to ostracize her when she had the gall to actually do it without their "permission." Instead of saying, "you bitches, you F***ING LAUGHED AT ME when I said I was just thinking of getting my hair cut, now you're pissed because I didn't bring you along!?", in the end she just forgave them. Stupid.

OMG yeah they were seriously ridiculous when MA showed them the magazine. I mean they're all horrified at MA CUTTING HER HAIR, but Claudia shows up with like, 7 braids and 2 ponytails in her hair and it's totally cool.

Man, they really are awful in this book, aren't they? And then they get all annoyed at her when she spends all her time with Logan and not them! For crying out loud.
