I clearly remember Kristy responding to Claudia’s bigot line: “you know darn well we can’t say that.” I think Kristy was thinking about parents’ reactions. Like they would tell their other client friends, omg our sweet sitters said that to an adult? I could see her thinking they’d lose clients if they said that. I think teens in this day and age would have no problem saying it, and adults would (I hope) back them up. Hmm. You might have a point about the time this was written. Might not have gone over as well back then. Someone else in the thread mentioned saying something like, "We don't like the way you treated Claudia and Jessi," and Kristy should've at least gone with that. As it was, they weren't going to sit for her again anyway. Mrs. Lowell is so OTT about it, though, that it might not be a secret and the regular clients would see where they're coming from. The Lowells could very well be somewhat isolated from the rest of Stoneybrook, their choice of course (and I sort of get this feeling), and in that case it would come as a surprise.

Definitely agree. People growing up now are much more socially conscious than past generations. Netflix Kristy would never have told Claudia not to say the bigot line. In fact I think any of the Netflix characters would have been bold enough to say it themselves.
