It's pretty crappy that they labeled the groups like that. How is that not an invitation for bullying when you go from weakling to alpha bird? Lol. I can just hear kids being like "Haha, you're a pigeon. I'm a Bald Eagle." Yes, I can hear the kids saying that to each other. One kid will be pigeon level. While the other kid is eagle level. When I was a kid, had to learn how to read. Their wasn’t no level for each student. Some students read faster than other students.

Mrs Barrett could have found time to help Buddy. You'd think her kids education would be important ! Education comes before her job. And relying on an eleven year old to help is just wrong .
Mallory could have opened the trunk with some pliers.

Yeah, you’d think parents would. Ugh, I have so many stories about terrible parents. Teacher-blaming from parents was a big problem at the school I started teaching at...one of the reasons I left that school, and am much happier at another.

That looks like a nice bedroom. Really huge windows. I like Vanessa's perplexed facial expression over that dress. Boring titles: Mallory and the mysterious diary Tine and the mysterious diary Mallory and the mysterious trunk

Mallory looks like she's daydreaming about Sophie's life on the first cover. I wouldn't mind trying out the dress that Vanessa pulled out of the trunk on the second cover. I think it'd be fun to cosplay/imagine being another person from another time.

She looks extremely "Mallory" in this one.

This was one of my favorites (definitely of Mallory's) and I've been wanting to re-read it. Mallory's books are probably the most underrated of all the sitters.
Kristy was hilarious in this one and I really liked Buddy too. One of the few books where I actually liked the baby-sitting plot. It's really cool that Mallory had him help her with the mystery. Good way to keep kids interested in reading. She could probably make a pretty good tutor.

Now that you mention it, how many books had babysitting be the main plot? This book has the mystery diary and sitting plots intertwined. Maybe that's why I like it. So many books were more about personal relationships and had unrelated sitting chapters interspersed.

So many books were more about personal relationships and had unrelated sitting chapters interspersed. Yeah this one ties them together nicely. This is still one of my favorites. Might actually be my favorite, idk. I liked Mallory's journal entries (although I was sort of weirded out by her pointing out the differences between a journal and a diary). Did that continue with her books in the series? I thought it gave this book a more unique feel. I liked the Buddy subplot and I liked how she helped him improve, although it felt very fast. I do think her comic idea was really good, though. Who knew that Kristy would have the best outfit in the book? When did Stacey and Mallory's towel code start? I didn't notice it in Welcome Back (which is when I remember it starting) and I didn't notice it in this one. Did I miss it?
