I learned the word "ai" from this book, I saw it in a crossword puzzle recently, haha. I learned the word "ai" from this book, too. I always thought it was funny because I had a friend who was Japanese named Ai, but I never told her that her name was also a type of sloth.

Count me in as another who learned "ai" from this book. I now use it all the time when I play online Scrabble!

Oh, that was where I used it! In a Scrabble game, not a crossword. Awesome.

This book isn't too bad but I always seem to forget about it. But there are some good moments in it. As a kid, I didn't really think the tuna-salad-on-a-bed-of-lettuce was an appetizing snack, but now I really want it as an adult - and it's going to forever be associated with that from me for now on. Awe, Janine. In the end she buys one of Claud's paintings. She's such a cute sister sometimes; you can tell that she really tries. Also, I like the consistency with Janine liking sweets because she says it's her "vice" in Phantom Phone Calls. I liked the subplot a lot. Not surprisingly, it didn't focus on any other sitting charges but was about something specific in Claud's life that didn't relate to babysitting. I wish more books were like that. Also, I really respect the girls' business sense. And of course, all the girls pitch in and help Claud set up an art show and they stay for the whole day. Sigh. The best friends you'll (n)ever have I figured Claud would have sold every single painting because, you know, that's what happens in BSC land!

What I want to know is why Kristy was okay with Claudia baby-sitting for nearly a month every Friday. Some of the times of jobs were questionable (as to whether they really took place in the evening). On page 26, Mrs. Wilder clearly says her husband doesn't come home until 8 or 8:30pm. I'd gather Claudia would be sitting from at least 3-whenever. The final sitting job is clearly labeled on a Friday afternoon. Claudia is with Rosie from right after school on.
Still don't much care for Rosie but did feel badly for her. Clearly her parents had no clue (or worse didn't care) that she was overwhelmed. It also occurred to me that it might have been helpful to Rosie had she gotten to talk with other kids who had skipped a grade such as Charlotte and even Karen. If the ghosties had not screwed up with Char, she should have started 3rd grade as 7 (Rosie's age) and finished at 8. Started 4th grade as 8. Karen should have started 1st grade as 5, finished at 6, and been in 2nd grade forever as 6 going on 7. Close enough to at least lend Rosie a friendly ear.

I don't know if talking to other kids would have really helped because Rosie didn't seem to want to relate to people. She was ostracized by her classmates and probably afraid of how people would react to her, because she seemed a little socially awkward.
I really like Rosie, even when she's acting like a brat.
Not related to Rosie really, but with all the grade skipping going on in Stoneybrook, why did Janine the super genius never skip a grade? She could have already graduated high school at 16.

Maybe Janine didn't skip a grade because she wasn't emotionally ready.

I always want tuna when I read this, just like I always want tacos when I read Claudia and the Middle School Mystery. Loved her "I made a valiant attempt" comment re: Rosie. And Ms. Besser and Watson buy paintings as well...maybe Ms. Besser put hers in her classroom. And I wonder if Watson bought a painting of his favorite candy bar or something I remember really liking Rosie's outfit on this cover and thinking she looked cool. The big sweatshirt, lacy tights and black shoes. Cooler than Claudia, who looked like she was going to a sock hop.

I think Mr. Wilder did have a job. Not sure what though. Otherwise I don't know what he was doing out of the house all day. Claud sold two or three of her paintings. Janine bought one and I can't remember who else. It's so funny how whenever she promotes her art, she always sells 3 items, and one is usually from someone close to her. In Stacey's Lie, I think it was Mr. McGill

I didn't like this book. Rosie Wilder is not my favorite charger. Just glad my parents didn't force me, to do so many activities while I was growing up.
Uncle Dandy is creepy guy. Remind me a pedophile. That you shouldn't leave her kids alone with him or don't do films by him.
I thought it was dumb. When Claudia said, that people who wear glasses are genius. I wear glasses, I'm not genius. I'm above average, but not genius.
Will love to see Claudia's and Rosie's paintings/drawings. The way Claudia describe them. They sound, their marvelous.
I think, it was pointless put Alan Grey, when they did the art exhibit in Kish's garage. Oh, let's cause trouble for Claudia and her friends. I guess, to make it funny. How did anyone notices, he put gum on the floor? Someone, had to see him, do it. Even, if he throw them down. Did they got revenge back at Alan, from a different book?

^ Alan's art was such a typically 13 year old boy thing to do. It's nice when the characters act their age!
