The Arnold's booth charged 1.00 for people to get there picture taken with Elvira, cute but I don't see how many parents would go for it.
And yeah, I was saying that Abby put herself in a situation with a possible asthma attack. She spent most of the book complaining about the allergens in the air and then admitted that she over did it when playing basketball and such with the kids, all the while not having her inhaler close by (it was in her backpack in the house.) I do think that Kristy should've trusted Abby when Abby said that severe attacks only happens like twice a year and usually she can ward them off, I guess the panic of seeing Hannie run in front of the car was like the last straw as far as the asthma attack was concerned. I just think that Abby should've kept her inhaler on hand in case she needed it given that she knew the risks for that time of year and for the activities she'd be doing.

^ A donation is all I can say about the $1 goat picture ;D Can't remember if the carnival was for charity but assume it was to raise money for something. Agree Abby should have been more careful. Unfortunately, attacks like that aren't always predictable, though. Not saying she didn't do anything wrong. I'm just more sympathetic to her about this, I guess.

I agree that Abby should have been more careful. She should have had her inhaler with her, especially if she was running and jumping around. Still, she should be trusted.
Kristy, being the super sitter that she is... I would have thought that she would have been a little more informed about asthma. She seemed to know nothing about it.

^ Agree about Abby being more careful and about being trusted. Just reread the parts about the asthma attack and Kristy's reaction. What made me mad was how Kristy seemed to blame Abby for the condition that she couldn't control - having asthma and any potential of an attack - instead of blaming her for the behavior that she could control - not being responsible enough to carry her inhaler right with her. But I think Abby having asthma doesn't mean that she shouldn't be allowed to sit. Anyway.... when glancing through this one I was reminded of my favorite part. The scene at the end where Abby and Anna think their mom might have been in the train wreck always makes my heart race. I really like it when they finally see that she is okay. The more I read the Abby books, the more I like them and her. She still bothers me but is growing on me. ;D

^ Hee hee. Word. I think she sounds a bit cute, but I've always wondered why they chose to make her a goat instead of a lamb or a pony. Though it was pretty funny when she charged after someone. I forget who - I'm thinking Jenny - but it was pretty hilarious.

^ I think she knocked Jenny down in one book and maybe Buddy or Jamie in Stacey and the Cheerleaders. I know she was also in Sea City Here We Come, though, and caused problems in that one too ;D

^ She chased Jenny because Jenny had sat in hard-boiled egg and Elvira smelled it. I definitely think Elvira sounds cute, because I picture her as one of those really small pigmy goats with the tiny little horns and big eyes that you can see at fairs aroudn this time of year.

^ Now I remember the egg scene ;D A classic. That was in Sea City Here We Come, right? I can also picture one of those pigmy goats - had one myself until it caused so many problems that we had to get rid of it ;D They are cute but can create real trouble....

they were having a carnival to raise money for the music and arts programs in stoneybrook public schools because the funding got cut.
just read this one for the first time. I really enjjoyed it. I'm probably in the minority here because a lot of us stopped raeding hte books befoer abby joined, but I actually like Abby. I love her sense of humor... I'm just quirky like that. I agree though that I rather read books from her POV. I thik the only one I didn't care for her in was ABby the bad sport. Pleaes tell me im not the only one who got weepy eyed when they went through their dad's things.

^ I liked books better from Abby's point of view too and was very touched by the whole thing with her dad in her Portrait. Agree, blossom, that the one I really didn't like was Bad Sport, though.

I love Abby, I never read her books as a kid so maybe I wouldn't have liked her then, but who knows. I personally think she is hilarious (which i know is an unpopular opinion!)

I think she's funny too. I think I was just ambivalent towards her as a kid but I really like her now and really enjoy reading her books.

I like her a lot better now than when I originally read the books. Definitely. I never saw her as a "classic" BSC member, so I wasn't to thrilled with her. But I like her now.
