^ oh, okay. I haven't read that particular book, so I didn't realise she had a kid. Cecelia must've been quite a bit older than Mr Ramsey.

^I think that it is mentioned that Mr. Ramsey is older, "but you'd never know it by looking at them." This may have changed as the series went on.

^ OMG, you're saying that you think they actually let someone age? Oh, besides Tiffany Kilbourne, that is.

^ she decreased in age too. In the beginning, she was eleven, then in other books she was ten.

Its amazing how things can change in the course of one book. In #81 the babysitters are freaking out because the Marshalls are dumping more kids on them, but in this book they're all happy to sit for 5 kids at the Roberts' house. Even though one of them is causing major trouble. I too thought Jessi was going to get in major trouble for the car incident, but everyone was thanking her. She didn't even do anything! Thank the Issacs! Jessi would have shat her pants if Danielle had hit one of the not-so-nice neighbors cars and someone had come out screaming at her and telling her how irresponsible she was.
The subplots- The wedding one was just dumb. Really showed what a little kid Jessi still is. And even after she found out there was no wedding and she plans the "romantic dinner" to make them fall in love... And serves spaghetti because thats what they (two DOGS) ate in "Lady and the Tramp"? My god, and they put this girl in charge of children? I liked the Stacey parts though, gotta love BSC drama. I'm reading "Stacey vs. the BSC" now.

I never thought of the dog aspect of the Lady and the Tramp and the spagetti. It gave me a good laugh as it is so true! Jessi seems so foolish in this one with not catching on that the wedding is NOT Aunt C's. That seems so obvious - even when I was a kid and read this one.

;D
But you're forgetting, Jessi had already had her own passionate romance! She was experienced in these things!
This was one of the strangest reactions ever. Ordinarily, wouldn't Jessi have been in major trouble and threatened to be kicked out of the BSC before everyone calmed down and admitted she wasn't really at fault?

I just reread and the subplot of this one was truly annoying. I am not sure how Jessi and Becca managed to come up with the dumb idea that Aunt C was getting married. I just don't know why they would even assume that. The whole "Lady and the Tramp" romantic dinner was cute, though, and so was the idea of Squirt in a little tux. As for Danielle, she bugged me the first time I read it but I could kind of relate to her. After nearly dying, you aren't that scared of death anymore. I'm glad the BSC finally decided to talk to her parents, even if it didn't really do any good, instead of just trying to handle it completely on their own. Another thought on this, it seems like Hayley Braddock is always involved in dangerous or stupid things. Maybe it's just me since I don't really like her.

It's really hard to like Haley Braddock after reading Claudia and the Little Liar. She's such a jerk in that book.
*squees at the idea of Squirt in a little tux*
Normally, Squirt bores me, but that is sooooo cute.

Another thing I forgot to mention about this book is sliding down the stairs on the crib mattress sounded kind of fun - dangerous but still fun.

I just reread and liked it as always with the same thoughts so I won't post those again. Can anyone relate to Danielle with having a lot of energy right after being sick? I know Mal mentioned that she felt the same way getting over mono and a remember a few people on here had that, too, and wondered if they felt the same energy or enthusiasm. Maybe that does explain Danielle's behavior. Another explanation I see as possible is lack of fear of death - she came so close and avoided it in the past but it might come back soon no matter what she does. Also, she may feel like she has so little time that she has to do everything right away (Rollerblade and sled inside because she wants to do it right then but might not get the chance if she has to wait for the weather to be right for it) Anyway, I hadn't noticed before but a lot of foreshadowing to Stacey vs the BSC. I thought the girls really were pretty tolerant of her - not even asking what all of the emergencies were. Poor MA probably worried that it had something to do with her illness - I know I would have thought that right away. Stacey was pretty irresponsible, in my opinion. I did like how she took charge and handled the situation with Danielle and her friends but I think this book was the "start of Stacey's downfall" The spaghetti dinner for Aunt C was so funny! It always makes me hungry, too ;D

Another thing I forgot to mention about this book is sliding down the stairs on the crib mattress sounded kind of fun - dangerous but still fun. My parents' friends' kids once brought their sled (a big plastic thing, not the usual sort with bladed runners) indoors and used it to slide down the carpeted stairs leading from the front door into the lower level of the house. I did it once and d**n near bashed my head in on the pool table. Looking back I could've been seriously hurt. Kids are so stupid! (And looking back, their parents totally knew about it, so why the heck they didn't stop them was beyond me, except they were totally out of control. Totally a family Supernanny would need to intervene on!)

I just read this one and totally agree the subplot was stupid and showed how young Jessi really is.
Honestly, knowing Danielle had been "full of energy", Jessi should not have not checked on the girls for like 20 minutes before wondering why it was so quiet. Then maybe she would have realized they planned to take the car out! I'm surprised a 9 year old could operate a car at all. I don't think I would have known what to do to get a car out of the garage, nevermind see over the steering wheel!
And I was also a little surprised that Becca, Charlotte, Vanessa and Haley all that this was okay because "She said she knew how to drive it." Come on. I understand that kids are impressionable but I just can't see all three of those characters just going along with it. At least one of them should have thought it was a bad idea and said no. (Either Charlotte or Becca probably.)

This is one of my favorites as I love Danielle and can even relate to the subplot. I was actually driving (in the field, of course) by 8 or 9 - as soon as I could reach the pedals ;D - and so were most of my friends who live in the country or at least a ways out of town. As for the other girls, they probably should have not gone along with riding on the road since that is definitely illegal (driving at home probably is too but oh well ;D) so that was wrong but I can't fault them too much, I guess, because of my driving experiences. ;D I did think it was cute that Jessi and Becca made spagetti (which sounded good ;D) because that was romantic for Lady and the Tramp (though it does show how young they are - agree on that). Makes me think of eating at Tony's Restaurant at Disney. ;D
