The Aunt Cecilia subplot was dumb and totally predictable. Why would even their parents keep a wedding a secret? I mean what if Jessi had scheduled a sitting job for that day or something? Then what at 10am her parents would be like "ooh Jessi no!! We have a surprise wedding to go to! Cancel your plans!"?! Kristy would give her a MAJOR Look for that! Lol, I might actually consider checking this book out the next time I go to the library. It's always been on the shelves when I went but since Jessi's books are usually lame I never checked it out. Now I really want to .

^ I really liked this one, even if Jessi was pretty clueless in the subplot. It was still cute, especially the stuff about the baby tux for Squirt. ;D

I couldn’t help but think of Jessi and the Troublemaker when they were sledding down the steps on the mattress in Princess Diaries 2. Wonder if they got the idea from the BSC. ;D Also thought of it when he sleds down the steps in Home Alone. Maybe that’s where Danielle and friends got the idea.

I wish I had read this when I was a kid! I would have liked to read about these girls (Danielle and Haley) doing some of the things I did/wanted to do. I tried the shower/pool, but it just leaks out, leaving water all over the floor. Also, riding down the stairs on a sled, like in home alone is kind of painful. Trust me. Even when you are 8 or 9, it hurts. And you don't always go out the front door, sometimes you slide right into the wall. And I skated in my house all the time. But I didn't have many rules, and no one was really watching what I did. (Never had rollerblades though. I still have roller skates, and I plan to keep them. I don't care much for in-line skating.) Anyway, my point was more that on the first page Mallory starts whining. It's not even her book, and she whines about her glasses and the snow. Then she wishes for little windshield wipers for her glasses. I'm sure with the size that they are illustrated to be on the cover, she could just use real ones.

ahh man it really sucks when you walk into a warm place from the cold and your glasses fog up. So annoying. It's especially annoying when you walk into a club or a bar and that happens cause you look like a fool. So I sympathize with Mal here.
I was way too big of a wuss to ever try sliding down the stairs.

I can't relate to doing any of those things (or wanting to) except driving the car. ;D But I had permission, help, and was in a field rather than on a road so it wasn't really the same. I do love this book, though, and am getting ready to reread it. Don't have glasses but having them fog up does sound like a pain so I don't think Mal's complaints are that bad. I just consider myself fortunate that I don't have to deal with the problem. ;D

^Oh, I don't think the complaints are that bad, except for the fact that on the first page she mentions -- how much she hates snow, how much she hates her glasses, and wishes for something unobtainable. ALso, I thought it was funny how she always wants to be older and cooler, but she wants windshield wipers on her glasses. When I was eleven, I was so mortified about my glasses that I only wore them when I really had to. Plus I hated -- still do-- the space around the side of my eyes. So I begged and whined and threw temper tantrums and lost my glasses repeatedly until I got contact lenses. Mal should try being proactive about the situation.

A friend and I tried mattress surfing once and wound up crashing into the wall. We got in so much trouble. I also used to practice tap dancing in the tub until I slipped and broke my arm.

Just read this for the first time! I have glass shower doors too, so I immediately wondered if the pool thing would work. Good thing I read Penny Lane's posts before I went and tried. How in the world would Vanessa hurt herself enough to need stitches (well, a stitch, heh) if that car was just rolling down the driveway? She probably wouldn't even sit up far enough for her head to reach the windshield. It'd maybe bump into the dashboard. Her temper tantrum at the "Forgive Danielle" meeting at the end was funny. I liked the part at the club meeting where Claudia said something like "Danielle's mom has roller blades? Cool!" Kristy snapped "Didn't you read that in the notebook?" and Claudia was like "Nope, must have skipped that little part. Anyway..." It's times like that that I really like Claudia. She doesn't sweat the small stuff. And she had a healthy snack waiting for her best friend who didn't show up.

Word. It sounds like something one of their charges would do. I've never read Jessi's Wish, so I don't really care about Danielle. This book was a huge bore to me. I did like the Stacey stuff though. I wanted Jessi to tell her she couldn't take over her job so that Stacey would be stuck sitting.

I like her a lot more as an adult then I did as a kid, I think.
