The two sitters for more than four kids rule was so inconsistent. Sometimes they'd make a big fuss and other times Kristy would be watching ten kids in her backyard.
I agree that Jessi and her family had close relationships. I always liked reading about her family, even though I know a lot of people think she was the most boring.

I realized yesterday that this book (Jessi and the Troublemaker) and Kristy and the Worst Kid Ever kind of blur together in my head...like for a moment I couldn't remember what sitter went with which bad kid, which bad kid did which bad actions, etc.

^When I reread Jessi books now I enjoy the family interaction a lot. She has very warm parents. Me, too! The Ramseys are just very natural together, and that's nice to read about. It's valuable to have book characters that deal with tricky family situations so younger readers can feel less alone, but I like seeing happy families, too.

^I really like how you said that Starrynight. Boo Boo, I'll have to try and be more open to Jessi books to notice. I do remember liking Jessi's Dad in "Gold Medal," which I did just read. I reread this book due to recent discussion and its still not a favorite but this time around I did notice a few positives that brightened it up. First of all, I loved Aunt C. Usually I'm not a big fan of hers but it came across in this one how much she cared for Squirt. I loved when Jessi tells us that Squirt just loves his Aunt. The opening scene with squirt with a pot on his head, playing away was funny and gave him more personality than the usual, chapter 2. I had just read "Keep Out Claudia," where Jessi puts together an office themed kid kit so it was very cool to read that continuity on pags 8 and 9 of this story. I just requested "Bea and Mr. Jones" at the library. Has anyone read it? I always have a smile thinking of how very much my Grandma (she LOVED candy) would have appreciated trick or treating in winter.

I'm not that surprised by it. I remember watching an episode about dumb drivers on the World's Dumbest, and a five or seven year old boy managed to drive a car so that he wouldn't go to church, so a nine year old driving a car isn't that surprising to me.
Rereading the book, I found the foreshadowing for Stacey quitting the club in a couple of books pretty obvious. Then again, it's probably because I know that Stacey would quit the club in a couple of books.
While I did like reading the stunts that Danielle pulled, I wasn't surprised that they were escalating. I can't believe that Danielle wanted to drive a car and that Becca, Vanessa, Charlotte and Haley agreed to join her.

They forgave Danielle far too easily and so did her parents. They were much too easy on her. She could have killed them.

I'm sorry, idk why this review is so long, I ranted a little and didn't expect to lol.
I actually enjoyed this one, idk why, since it doesn't make much sense. I guess I liked the ideas Danielle came up with (I was intrigued by the shower thing when I was younger), the foreshadowing to the next book (I can't wait!), and the subplot was very stupid but pretty amusing at the same time.
Someone pointed out that this book is inconsistent with the last book and how many kids they can look after. I agree. Maybe it's because they're older kids and can do more for themselves? It is sort of odd, though. It makes me nostalgic in an odd way- like, I kind of wish I'd done more crazy stuff with my friends at that age and had, well, more friends lol. I was a bit squicked when the Robertses let Danielle have friends over when Greg had a cold... yes it's just a cold, but that still feels irresponsible to me. At least the other girls didn't catch it. You'd just think that the Roberts parents would be more cautious about health.
The subplot is SO DUMB. For some reason it didn't stand out as dumb when I was younger, but this time around, I think I'm starting to realize why Jessi only had one mystery. She sucks at them! It was just a massive leap in logic. First of all, why would the parents keep the wedding a secret until the very last second, why would they have to buy their own wedding clothes, just... wtf Jessi? Where did you put your brain lol. It is so dumb, though, that it's funny. Then Jessi, like, keeps the non-wedding a secret from the BSC and tries to get AC and Mr. Major together. It's just so WTF that I couldn't help but laugh. Becca and especially Jessi 100% deserve all the teasing lol.
I like the foreshadowing to Stacey v the BSC in here. I remember being largely on Stacey's side in that one, but in this one, she is VERY inconsiderate. You have to give more notice than half an hour (!) for someone to cover a shift, and if that's unavoidable, I think the other person should be given a (very good) reason. Missing a meeting and being late all the time isn't great either. Also, on that note, Kristy needs to calm the hell down about Jessi being late on Fridays since it is completely out of her control. I suppose Kristy expects Mr. Ramsey to run all the red lights. Sorry, I really don't like Kristy much at times in this re read.
Also, Major inconsistency haha, although perhaps it's because Jessi wasn't in the club or even in Stoneybrook yet: "Wow. No one in the history of the BSC (okay, maybe I’m exaggerating, but you get the idea) had ever just blown a meeting off like that. Especially not to Kristy." This was in regards to the meeting Stacey missed. I believe Wendy didn't come to a meeting, but idk if she was just late. But Kristy herself totally blew off a meeting in Mary Anne Saves the Day to hang out with the Shillabers. Lol. Again, possible pass here since Jessi might not have known about that. But it's still funny.
This book is not exactly great, but it's definitely not boring (in my opinion). For a Jessi book it's actually pretty good. Also, unless I'm missing something, Jessi only has 2 more books in the series (and they're both pretty good iirc). That seems so unfair given she's in the club until the very end of the main series. Mal also has less books from here on out. Obviously this isn't counting Super Special chapters, but I wonder why they did this. Maybe Jessi and Mal were less popular? Idk, but I think they deserved better. Mal deserved a book after Kristy in Charge and before All-New Mallory Pike to develop her move to Riverbend more, and Jessi could've used a book after Big Break to develop how she's grown apart from the BSC. What do you all think? Is it lack of popularity?

I had to look this up because I didn't believe you. Wow! I really liked Jessi so I'm surprised to see this. 2 books in the last 49 belonged to her, when 7 would have been an even distribution.

I'm not sure if it's because of lack of popularity or because they ran out of ideas for her. Mal has a similar problem, only having 3 books. I feel like they both at least needed another book dedicated to the Spaz Girl/ Riverbend plotline (why was Mary Anne the one who got the book about their fight?).
