^^I don't know. I haven't read a BSC book in ages (stupid school). When I get off for the summer in a couple of weeks, I shoudl go and re-read a ton of bsc books.

I'm pretty sure Mrs. Bruen was only hired when jeff moved back to CA, cause didn't Dawn call and not know who she was?
Anyway, I started reading this last night. Whats up with Kristy totally ignoring the Papadakises so she can discuss Izzy's "social development" over the phone with Alan?
I really can't get over how seriously they took the project! Even Mal and Jessi were like WTF you psychos??
And of course then the Pikes need their own egg children. lol. That was cute, though, I'll admit.
Oh, one thing I noticed was that the dialogue in the TV-Babysitter's Remember episode where they flash back to this assignment is lifted DIRECTLY word-for-word from the book!! I was reading the bits where their teacher is explaining the assignment thinking "Where have I heard all of this before?!" it's exactly the same.

When the Schafers were discussing whether or not Jeff would go back to CA Mr. Schafer said something like "Well, I would have to hire a housekeeper."

^ uh, why? Jeff was allowed to stay home by himself during the day - unlike the Pike triplets, but I forget the reference - and so he wouldn't need a babysitter when Mr Schafer was at work.
If single mothers in the BSC series are expected to come home from a full time job, take care of their kids, clean the house and cook a meal, why the hell does Mr Schafer require a housekeeper to do that? I understand the whole "if he can afford it, why not?" but still... it smacks of laziness. I'm not really fond of either Schafer parent.

I thought it was hilarious that when Mallory and Jessi tried to point out that the projects were just eggs, not real children, the older girls just chalked it up to Mal and Jessi being immature and "not understanding".

Heehee, yeah. And the older members were all, "Wait till *you* have eggs, then you'd get it".

I agree about Mr. Schafer getting a housekeeper. It was dumb. He had ONE child to look after. He was probably just pissed about losing his new found freedom.

^ Poor Mr Schafer. Before long he was stuck with his TWO kids full time. He didn't even get every other weekend free, like most parents with primary custody.

His kids didn't really need looking after, though. At least he wasn't stuck with Karen and Andrew full time

^ still, in reality (not BSC land, where kids over 10 are miniature adults) an 10 and 13 yr old would require significant attention. A guy who wanted to start over as a carefree bachelor would definitely feel burdened by being stuck with those kids full time.
Now the Karen and Andrew thing was truly outrageous. All of a sudden, Nannie is expected to provide childcare for these two kids who aren't any relation of hers whatsoever? Mr Schafer WAS Dawn and Jeff's father, but what obligation did Nannie have to Watson's kids?

Agreed ^. For some reason I think the housekeeper was mainly for him - to clean up his house, make him meals, etc. Maybe he had a big house? Did he get rid of Mrs. Bruen after he got married to Carol?

^ no. That was a specific plot in Here Come the Bridesmaids. Jeff was mopey and miserable because he thought his dad would get rid of Mrs Bruen.
