I thought, I post something on here. What, I thought about this book. I'll have to re-read this book again. To refresh my memory.

Off topic, but I was in disbelief back then that neither house had a nintendo or other game console system aside from Nancy. I didn't know anyone without a NES, SNES or gameboy back in those days, if not a sega genesis I didn't have any kind of gaming system (and boy did I give my mom some grief about that). I wanted an SNES like nothing else in the world. I enjoyed this book, as I always like parts involving Shannon. I really liked the interaction between her and Kristy, especially at the end at the dance. They did come off as genuine friends, despite having so little in common. It was weird that they used the "Oh, oops, I misunderstood which sibling I had a crush on!" thing with Tiffany and Maria liking the Pike triplets (they did that with Nicky having a crush on one of the Arnold twins, right? Maybe in Stacey's Ex-Best Friend or something?). Is it really that common to get mixed up on who you like? lol

So, I retread this book. It was okay book. The first idea from Kristy didn't turn out as well. The writing to the parents & Shannon was a good idea. Kristy should had thought of that sooner.
Why are people so afraid to dance? All you do is get up and dance. I never understood that.

^ Yeah, that's usually it. Plus, some people just don't like being the center of attention. I'm definitely one of them!

Yeah, I understand that. Cause, if you mess up and land your butt on the floor. Everyone will be laughing at you. That's embarrassed.

Tiffany and Maria were pretty annoying and I thought there just wasn't much plot in any of the three plots, their endings especially disappointing (the dating worries ended by the sitters recommending not having dates, for the little sisters to just write a letter and Shannon to end one new activity). But it was interesting to see a more young-acting 11 year old (she seemed really younger than just two years/grades younger than Shannon) and so kind of emphasize that Mallory and Jessi are, and are considered, pretty exceptional.
Fun that though Kristy continues to express disdain for Alan she acts more like he's not that bad, at least fun at times.
It was weird that Claudia or Mark would even expect Kristy to like Steve. A little too extreme he didn't have even one athlete he really liked aside from the collector-value.

I saw where Tiffany and Maria were coming from, why they felt ignored..first they tried to help, it doesn't work and so that's why they opt to make Shannon's life miserable...and the list to declare war definitely sounds like something I would have done to get back at my siblings when I was their ages, although now that I'm older, I know making someone feel bad for making you feel bad is ineffective if what you want is for the person to realize they hurt you.

Grr at Pete for bashing the Beatles (and cool that Kristy and Cokie both like them).

Does anyone else find it weird that Kristy was baby sitting for a eleven year old? Considering two of her baby sitters are the same age?? I always knew eleven years old is too young to sit! Tiffany seemed quite capable of looking after herself-she took charge of the dance committee meeting after all!

I agree, it was really odd. I always have a weird moment when I read books like this (or the camp super special) and I realize these really young-acting people are the same age as Mallory and Jessi. I always just assumed the Kilbournes were the kind of family that wanted their kids occupied 24/7 and didn't give them much independence, especially considering Mrs. Kilbourne's relationship with Shannon in Shannon's Story.

And Mallory and Jessi are NOT mature for their age.
I'd never let an eleven year old sit for my kids-esp if they were just a year or two older than my kids. Maybe its just me.

I thought Kirsty was being too critical and judgmental of Steve. She only met him for five minutes and already decided not to line him because he wasn't interested in sports.

I kind of liked this one, even though it's bad. Idk, it wasn't boring.
This one is just silly, but it's kind of fun. I'm not a big Shannon fan (I just can't really relate to her), but I do like when we get a subplot involving her because I think she definitely got the short end in this series. I think it's about time we had a pot about her taking on too much.
I'm very confused about how Mrs. Kilbourne is so busy that she can't spend time with her kids. First of all, why did she take classes after the girls were out of school? That makes no sense to me unless she's trying to get in and afternoon classes were all she had (I do know that I had to settle my first few semesters in college. There were plenty of morning classes, though, which I actually tried to avoid because I am NOT a morning person!). It's just kind of weird and makes no sense. But even if she's taking afternoon classes, she isn't going full-time (and isn't working either), so I guess I just don't get why she's suddenly super busy.
I feel bad for Tiffany and especially Maria, but I think they turn into all out brats in the book. Well, Maria is only 8 (or 9? Idk, their ages actually aren't specified in this book), so I can excuse her behavior a bit. Tiffany is really, really annoying though, and definitely immature for 11 (then again, she might be 10 in this book). No wonder she needs a babysitter. She definitely had some character derailment in this series.
If Tiffany is in fact 11, it's very awkward for reasons everybody mentioned already. There's also a time when I think Abby mentioned they were too young to worry about dating. I agree, but then Ben and Quint exist.
For some reason, I cracked up when they tried to "help" Shannon with her homework. It's so ludicrous and idk what they were thinking. Erasing all the X's because they thought it made more sense? Good lord.
I didn't care about the subplot at all. I think it's ridiculous that Maria and Tiffany were fighting over Jordan, then fell for another triplet. I think it's supposed to be funny, but it's just dumb.
I liked the double date subplot, and the shopping chapter is funny (although it's OOC for Claud to dismiss food). I do feel like she could've picked something more Kristy-like, though, like maybe a nice blouse or sweater with new jeans or cords or something, with some nice flats. I agree with Kristy that if Steve thought she was pretty, he wasn't falling for the real Kristy. Jeans were totally appropriate for that date imo (actually, if I were Kristy, I'd just go as is, who cares). I'm a Kristy when it comes to clothes if you can't tell lol.
I do like that Claudia doesn't push her to go to the dance with Steve and admits they weren't right for each other. And that Kristy goes with Shannon.
Steve does suck and sounds totally boring. I also agree that Mark doesn't sound great either.
I'm glad that the Kilbournes decide to spend more time together at the end. Mrs. Kilbourne also decides to take classes while the girls are in class as well next semester. WHY didn't she do that to begin with?! I don't get it.
This one gets a 5.5. It's pretty poorly written (like the last few main series books have been), but it's entertaining. It's kind of a guilty pleasure book for me I guess. It would be higher if I cared about the kids' dance subplot.
One thing I'm liking about the late series is that there's a focus on family dynamics. That's the thing that's kind of saving it for me. The quality is definitely lower (especially Stacey's Secret Friend), but there is something to latch onto. I might end up making a post of all my rankings when I'm done (obviously will need to rank the older books retroactively. Might not be fair, though). Would anyone want that? I kind of want to do it.
