This was a fun book, with all its silliness. Maybe she eloped with Alan Gray. I was thinking the exact same thing. LOL.

^ I missed that one! ;D It's been a while since I've read and now I'll have to since I remember liking Shannon pretty well in this one and have been rethinking my positive opinion of her lately. Like booboo's suggestion about a history between Shannon and Bart as I've always thought they would have been a good couple. Too bad this was never explored.

Like most of you, I couldn't believe that they didn't catch Cokie sooner. I mean, bring the notes to school, Cokie gives you a dirty look, you get death threats. DUH?

I know Cokie hates the BSC but... didn't you think what she did was pretty twisted? To come up with those rhymes in the first place and put fugly finger nails in there as well Kinda scary..

now that you mention it, Cokie does spend a lot of her time hating the BSC. she has to be jealous.

^ Cokie is either quite twisted or maybe quite bored. In fact, she seems bored and unhappy in a lot of books. I had totally forgotten that she was the one who sent the notes in this book. I guess it really is time to reread ;D

I actually found Bart's notes just as disturbing as Cokie's. Especially the one that was said "I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you!!". If it turned out that some guy I wasn't even dating sent me a note like that, I'd be a little freaked. Not that I wouldn't be freaked out over an envelope full of finger nails, but still...get a grip, Bart!

I know, fluffycakes! Worse, it seems so out of character for Bart. In this one and Kristy + Bart = ?, he seems all mushy and overly affectionate and moving so quickly for an eighth grader, but in most of the rest, it's like, "Bart and I sort of hang out sometimes, and he's my standby date for dances." His character is one of the more inconsistent ones across the books, I think, at least as far as minor characters go.

^ I thought Bart's notes were pretty disturbing and pretty pathetic, too. I don't know.... he seemed to have the potential for being a "stalker" ;D This book is one reason I don't like him. I was so sad that it was him sending the love notes. Wish he was actually the one sending the mean ones so Kristy would have gotten rid of him sooner ;D

I agree Bart's notes are practically just as bad as Cokie's. I remember being pretty disturbed by them as a kid. Way too over the top for a 13 year old, they're worse than some of Mary Anne's letters to Logan! At least Logan was her boyfriend.

This plot is certainly over used! Bart and Cokie are both pathetic in different ways... actually Bart is more OOC than pathetic. Haha about the Lobster costumes and Bart's parents!

I think the worst thing about this book for me is that Bart is the mystery admirer. I agree that he's pathetic and it seems slightly out of character for him. Maybe it's just me but he seems almost like more of a macho sort of jerk in some of the other books. (Again, I might just be making that up because I can't stand him - maybe it's the name ;D)

And those fingernails were creepy... but so was the "I love you" etc. I agree that this seemed very similar to the recycled Bad Luck mystery.

^ I totally didn't see the similarities as a kid. It's true I only read the book once before it got stolen, but it was all over my head.
I always wished that it had been Alan sending the letters. I remember being a bit disappointed when it turned out to be Bart.
What did you guys think of the ending, with Kristy's little note to Cokie? "Your mystery perspirer"? (Or however you spell it) I thought that was really, really dorky. Kinda funny, but in a hugely cheesy way.
