Didn't she just get one chapter? I remember being kind of excited when I first read that chapter and discovered she was a General Hospital fan like me, haha. Interesting that Ann would say that about Cokie considering she's the enemy of her two faves, Kristy and Mary Anne.

Cokie was also featured in European Vacation I think she might have gotten a chapter there.

From what I remember, Cokie didn't have a chapter there.

Maybe your right! She did have a picture though where she gave Mary Anne and Claudia "evil-eyes" *says it like Vicky Pollard from Little Britain*

"Cokie's Story" would have been kind of like "The Truth About Taffy Sinclair." I remember the tagline on the front cover read "Taffy finally tells her side of the story!" Did any of you ever read the Taffy Sinclair books (or the Fabulous Five series that followed a few years later)? Starrynight, I agree that it would have been interesting to see Cokie more developed. The few chapters she got in SS#9 didn't really show much depth. I loved The Fabulous Five. I read some Taffy Sinclair, but not enough to really remember it. Taffy looked so much like TV show Stacey that I wonder if she was the cover model.

I do like this one even though I really hate the Krusher books typically. It occurred to me while reading this that I really like Shannon, but then again I think it's because she isn't featured in a lot of books so the writers can't give her a hatchet job or turn her into the ghost of her former self like I think happens with the other girls.
I have to say that if I got a letter like this from a boy when I was 13, I probably would have laughed in his face or punched him! They were so gross over the top mushy. The more I learn about Bart, the less I like him. I also find it strange how he admits he wrote the nice letter, in essence professing he loved kristy, and then they just sit on the bed like no big deal an hey look at these other letters.

^You're right that is weird. Maybe they quickly looked at the other letters to diffuse the awkwardness of the moment? Though, it is never mentioned again. If Bart truly loved Kristy and wanted to either go steady or develop more of a romantic relationship, he sure gave that up after the fact (confessing). Since Kristy took everything so well, that made the nothing aftermath make less sense. Don’t they simply go back to being rival coaches/sometimes hanging out between this and Kristy + Bart?
I did like early Bart. I also loved that his friendship with Kristy seemed more realistic than later Mary Anne and Logan. It was fine for them to mainly be friends/coaches but every now and then try out the romance aspect. That’s why I was disappointed when Bart was written off in #95. I much rather would have read more about him than the boy sagas of both Claud and Stacey!
I liked this book because similar to #35, it often had a smaller feel to it. Kristy was shown hanging out just with Shannon and /or Bart instead of the entire group. Kristy calls Stacey, etc. I would have loved seeing an illustration of Marnie in her Krusher’s T shirt. Is that ever mentioned again, btw? All in all a nice change from most of the 30’s books so far!

I think Bart is a creep now. I know he was trying to be romantic, but when they wrote him off, he smothered her and didn't respect her boundaries. She was grounded as a result. Unknown letters, stalking, etc. good riddance bartman!

^To be fair, Kristy literally smothered Bart right back on her couch, I mean. At first when they were at the movies, Kristy didn't care for his advances. When the two of them were watching TV, she sure did! I may be in the minority, but I still don't like how quickly Bart was written off. Kristy could have easily told him she was interested in him romantically but wanted to go back to taking things slower, more naturally. Then if things didn't work out, okay.

Maybe cause he was over when she wasn't allowed to have guys over? And it's not always easy for girls, especially giving ones like Kristy even if she's a tomboy, to speak up about these things.

i think kristy just literally doesn't realize what's normal and what's weird when it comes to boys, probably because she's had so little experience in romantic relationships. that's why it wasn't awkward that he admitted to writing the letters then hung around afterwards -- she had no idea that it wasn't a normal thing to do. she just isn't skilled enough to read social situations, not even with her friends.

I'm disappointed that we never found out what the "thing" was that Buddy Barrett was blackmailing Suzi about! For a minute, I thought little Suzi might have been sending the notes . Kristy wouldn't have seen that one coming...

I always find it strange in Mystery Admirer that Shannon wants to come and hang out at Krusher practice. I know the excuse is she has “free time” but I can see a lot better uses for free time. ;D Maybe it was that she was waiting for Kristy or something but it made it out like she just came to watch. ^ I kinda feel like Shannon does it because she feels kinda guilty about not spending as much time with this pursuit (the BSC) as she does with her others. I don't know but I got the feeling that Shannon kinda like-liked Buddy in return and was part of the reason for continuing to watch the practices. I got the feeling that Kristy might have not been so sure where Bart's series of letters stopped and where Cokie's started since she did feel a nudge about letting Bart win the World Series as if he might have still been sore about losing the game that took place at the beginning of the book.

I hope Shannon didn't like-like Buddy in return, considering he was EIGHT YEARS OLD.

^ Lol, I don't know. I just kinda thought that if it could happen towards one direction, why not the other? I've heard of teenage girls liking younger guys even if the gap is around 5 years. And besides, if Shannon is unattractive but still managed to get tons of dates maybe she gets it from where ever she could get it from?
