Several things wrong with this one : Kristy gets threatning letters and didn't even tell her mother and Watson ? I'd be calling the police especially over the note that said I'll see you when you're dead. Why would a kidnapper kidnap Kristy ? She's just Watson's stepdaughter not his blood relation . Shannon was right the kidnapper would go for Karen or Andrew . M Even in book 38 she's still thinking Watson's house as his house and not hers . She wasn't "just" a stepchild. He loved her as his own. Regardless, she would be easier to grab as she was tiny and ran around the neighborhood on her own. But Karen and Andrew would be more valuable because they are his children from his first marriage. Kristy might be his family too but even you have to admit Karen and Andrew will be a lot more valuable! What annoyed me was Kristy didn't think the letters were from Bart but from Sam. Then she does a 360 and say they're from Bart after all and think he's crazy. Poor Bart. And Kristy said she doesn't have any enemies? Does she not think Cokie as an enemy? After all the tricks she played on Kristy and the BSC??

I don’t understand what that means. Lisa wasn’t anyone special. No more so than Elizabeth. Why would first marriage kids hold any more value?

I think it's not so much his first marriage so much as his natural (younger) children.

Which goes back to my original statement that livvy quoted. They did not use the words "step" "adopted" or "real" in that household. (I think Elizabeth said that to Karen once.) They were all Watson's kids equally. Livvy specifically said blood related was more valuable, which I guess means Emily could be put on the curb for the taking. Besides, any man that valued his marriage would not be skimping on ransom for his wife's kid.

Ha, I'd love to see Elizabeth's face if a kidnapper demands ransom for Kristy and Watson has to think.
A teacher used to say the easiest kid to kidnap is the skinny one. By that logic Emily and Andrew are the most valuable targets, and Kristy (although small for her age) would be athletic enough to fight back and therefore not worth the risk. You would have to jump Charlie and Sam with a whole gang, and that's just too many mouths to feed. Keep it simple and kidnap a toddler.

What if Watson did halfsies and made the club fundraise the rest? Suddenly we have another super special.
