This book made me want to punch Kristy in the face. OH MY GOD, what a pain in the ass. If my (theoretical, I'm an only child) little sister butted into my love life and tried to manipulate me and my ex-girlfriend to get us back together, and was nasty to my current girlfriend, I wouldn't want to do her any favors either! And then being pissed off when he lost patience with her. Argh.
Trying to get the police officer to drive them to the concert was pretty funny, though.

One thing we know about Kristy is that she really hates change. She was used to Sarah and she liked her, so she was probably going to dislike anybody Charlie started dating next, just for not being Sarah.

What does smoking have to do with being a jerk? And what is klinic?

To me, Angela looked like Laine on the cover.

What does smoking have to do with being a jerk? And what is klinic? Yeah...it's not like she was blowing smoke in people's faces. Klinic is the Krushers Klinic.

^ I always thought that was so annoying that Kristy called it the Klinic with a K. I think that was one of the things that bugged me most about this book. C words should be spelled with Cs. ;D I'm kind of like Karen with that. ;D

Haha. I wonder if Kristy does that to mess with Karen. Lovingly, of course

I read this for the first time last week, and I really liked how it actually addressed how the family dealt with the dad walking out on them (then again I don't read too many Kristy books, so I missed any other scenes like this) as well as Kristy and Charlie's relationship. I actually got a little misty eyed at the end when they had their heart to heart, cause I have a very close relationship with one of my older brothers and I get totally Mary Anne over such moments (Catcher in the Rye, for example. I cry like a baby during the scenes with Holden and Phoebe). I just wish the story wasn't framed around the dang Krusher's Klinic. I wasn't as bothered by her meddling with Charlie's Love life near so much as the very idea of a clinic for pre-little leaguers! And during spring break, when most right thinking people need a vacation!!!! And for a team that has ONE FRIGGIN RIVAL TEAM! That part of Kristy I dislike so, so much. Her being a meddlesome little sister is somewhat endearing in a way. Her tendency to turn every single adult activity into a kiddie version which she takes way too seriously? Not so much. This is a bigger issue I have with the books, the treating of kids as miniature adults which gets very tedious, very fast.
Dontcha love how smoking has replaced mustache-twirling as the universal sign for "OH NO TEH BAD GUY!!!11!!one!"? I do remember how surprised I was when I had that realization as a teenager that a surprising number of smokers are "good"... or at least firmly neutral;)

Haha oh, smoking=bad person.
I've read this book a lot for some reaosn, but it makes me so uncomfortable in parts. Like when kristy arranges that date in the coffeeshop, I just get soo embarrassed.

I really like this book for the interaction between Kristy and Charlie and getting to see more of Charlie. I can also relate to Kristy a lot in this book (even though she's annoying or less than perfect - I am too, I know, sometimes ;D) What was the subplot in this one? Was it just the Klinic?

I skipped over a lot of this book because of the Krushers stuff. I just get so bored by the baseball stuff I can't be bothered to read it. I liked the non-Krushers stuff though. I liked reading the relationship between Kristy and Charlie and loved hearing about the Thomas family after Patrick left.
How come Charlie and Sarah broke up? Like I said, I skipped over a lot of the book, so I might have missed that.
The random thing I got hung up on was how the Kishis were mad at Claudia for the car incident. She had absolutely nothing to do with it whatsoever, so why would her parents be mad? Maybe they were annoyed at having to go into Stamford to get her, but that doesn't seem to justify the super angry expression that Kristy describes on Mr. Kishi's face. But oh well, I really do get hung up on random things in these books! ;D

^ I don't remember the Kishis being mad at Claudia but from what I remember about the book, you're right. It totally wasn't her fault. Were they really mad at Claudia or just mad in general? Had she done something earlier (like wasn't supposed to go to the concert) to justify their anger? I can't remember why Charlie and Sarah broke up, either, but really liked her. ;D

Maybe they were mad in general...or perhaps scared, and that translated into anger, because they considered what might have happened to Claudia because of Charlie's recklessness. After all he is a usual driver for Claudia and her friends, but allowed a stranger to take the wheel.
