Stacey is terrible in this book. It's the worst she has ever acted and that's saying something.

The back of the book asks, "Why won't Tess wise up? Doesn't she want Stacey's help?" The short answer is no! Tess likes who she is and the moral of the story is to accept people as they are. What infuriates me about this book is its 112-page count. That's totally unacceptable! 20 or more pages should have been added and they really could have developed Tess' character more in said pages. I know the later books start to get shorter in length but this really bothers me!

Stacey meant well and she did back off once Tess made it clear that she was fine as she was.

I thought Stacey was terrible in this book, mainly because of how she was acting.

I still think she meant well...she wasn't deliberately mean to Tess and no, I don't think she was "terrible."
Misguided, yes...a bit tactless, yes...but no worse than anyone else.

It is the book where SMS really got bad with it's bullying. Poor Tess!

I re-read this one a lot when I was younger even though I knew it was bad. I have no idea why! Maybe because it's really short so it's less of a time commitment than any other main series book? Lol.
Yeah, this one is... just bad. This book is part of the reason I didn't like Stacey when I was younger. Now I realize that she's just OOC here. Nothing about the whole premise makes sense. Why did Stacey want to make Tess over? To be honest, even aside from her looks, she didn't seem to like her that much. The two girls have very little in common (they're both from big cities. That's about it).
Tess actually is interesting, but the book is too short to really develop her character enough. I was kind of surprised when Tess admitted she "adores the Middle Ages" and that Stacey stated she'd never heard of anyone who did. There are A TON of people who are obsessed with it and many fantasy series seem to be at least somewhat inspired by it.
The bullying was awful (I HATE that Alan Gray is a bully in this), and the football game was almost unbearable. It's hard to take Stacey's attitude in this, too, saying Tess is making herself a target. Also, I thought Stacey loved pink. Can't say I buy Tess's fashion sense being in vouge (or whatever) if I'm being honest.
The glasses, though! Those are actually very "in." Regardless of being "in" or not, I hate it when characters try to get someone to switch to contacts instead of glasses. Contacts are harder to deal with for some people, and I've even heard of people getting infections. Speaking of infections, don't share makeup. Yuck.
If I'm being honest, I wish that Tess was just a nerdy dork (don't take this the wrong way. I AM a nerdy dork) who felt comfortable with who she was. I kind of hate that he fashion sense was actually in vouge. I hate that Stacey was suddenly so interested in her and accepted her style all the sudden just because it was fashionable in Paris. I hate that Abby was also super snarky about Tess for some reason, although I suppose that's realistic for a 13 year old girl.
This book also felt... kind of like it was written in a lower reading level than the rest, if that makes any sense. It was just written very simply. It's hard to explain, but it really stuck out to me.
Subplot was practically non existent. SO weak.
I really didn't like this one because I just couldn't root for Stacey and it was very poorly written. It gets a 2 (lowest rating yet!). It's not boring, but it's just really bad.

Why was Stacey trying to turn Tess into someone she isnt? Tess seems comfortable being herself and Stacey was terrible in this book. I actually thought this was ghost written by Peter because of how badly this book was written and how occ Stacey was. But it actually wasn't.
