Much as I usually like Mallory, she was incredibly irritating in this one (I'm only three quarters of the way through, though). zOMG Henrietta Hayes is a liar! She writes FICTION books that don't reflect her life! For a wannabe author, Mallory certainly has a lot to learn.

I agree. But at the same time...I can't read through many chapters of a BSC book without thinking "that must be one of Ann's things" or "the girls aren't old enough to know that..." Her bios at the end of the books always just say that she has cats, lives in New York and "likes ice cream, the beach and I Love Lucy." We know she writes about those all the time.

^ ha, total word. It's obvious Ann agreed with Mallory on this issue, although she never wrote books about life as a middle-aged lesbian! She was a lesbian, right? Can't remember if that was confirmed or not.
Anyway, it's clear she thinks New York is the Greatest Place on Earth, the BSC books are just like one long advertisement/tour guide. Episodes of I Love Lucy are continuously referred to (so many times it's ridiculous, IMO) and yeah... as you said, all of Ann's favorite things listed in her bio are very prominent features of BSC books.

Along those lines, it could give a new meaning to "The Truth About Stacey" and "Claudia Makes Up Her Mind."

^ oooh, the plot thickens! ;D
With the discussions over David Michael's paternity and the "new" BSC books, something tells me what I'd already known... I really should've put these books down over 10 yrs ago. d**n Ann and her addictive tween series!

I don't understand Mallory in this one. I just reread "Mallory on Strike", and she seems to have a fine understanding of what fiction is. Why the sudden change of heart 40 books later? Why was she so STUPID in this book?! Ugh, Mallory.

yeah, mallory is a freak, of course authors use fiction when they write, they cant use their own experiences unless theyve lived a fantastic and eventful life.
and the whole thing with her story and her 85 brothers and sisters was annoying too. the whole pike family shits me

IIRC, doesn't Mallory base her story on her own experiences in that book, too? Still, it doesn't explain her stories about Meghan and Ryan Mouse in New York, New York! Has Mallory ever been an urban rodent? No? I guess she is a LIAR.
