^They should have Anzuhana. Also, did they ever go anywhere as an "almost" new family with Jeff, Dawn, and Mary Anne? I don't think so. They dated exclusively at the start, then saw "other people" to th exent that neither MA or Dawn thought the marriage would happen, and then, boom, out of no where, it's there whatever dating anniversary (25th date) as adults and they announce the marriage. I liked that the Barrett-DeWitts had a few family get togethers and outings before the marriage was decided. I know MA and Dawn were over the top crazy with the idea of hurrying things along but I think that's exactly what they were excited about (spending more time together since they'd met recently and became good friends). Neither had a clue how becoming a family would work. But then the adults didn't either, not even at the Series end.

In the Chapter 2's, they always said something like "after dating for what seemed like forever, Mary Anne's dad and Dawn's mom FINALLY got married!" They made it sound like they waited about five years...several years actually did pass between the publication of #4 and #30, but of course with the time warp, it was only a span of about a year that Sharon and Richard re-met, dated, and married. Maybe they felt more comfortable getting married quicker since they'd already dated in high school?

^The chaper 2's did make it sound like they had remet years ago. Richard and Sharon married during the BSC's second tour of 8th grade. The two had been reunited for about 2 years. The thing I never got was Richard was made out to be a complete neat freak. I thought so was Jack and that was "why Sharon and Jack couldn't deal anymore." Didn't Dawn tell us that once? As I've saod, other than when R and S first re-met, I never saw or felt any sparks/love between them. But then we were never shown any either.

I thought Richard and Sharon were cute in the School Spirit War book. Sharon got feisty at a parents meeting and Richard teased her about it.

I just read through the many pages of this thread and wow, I never gave thought to the mystery of Mrs. DeWitt! What did happen to her? Also, did anyone else think it was weird that neither Buddy or Suzi knew Franklin had kids (at the start)? I sure did. I liked that he got to know them without his brood but surely he should have mentioned them. I wonder if Ryan, Madeline, Taylor, and Lindsay knew about Marnie, Suzi, and Buddy?
Three last things real quick:
On her first sitting job, Dawn serves hamburgers and fries to the Barrett kids. She does "retaliate" by drawing pictures (they all do) of her favorite foods, but amazing she did not comment on the meal.
Ryan DeWitt is actually a more advanced two-year old than 1 1/2-2 1/2 Marnie--amazing!
At the movie theater Jeff gets buttered popcorn and junior mints. Dawn says zip.

I want to know the Mrs DeWitt secret!!!!!
Zoar - why would Dawn say anything to Jeff about that, he walks on water! He can do no wrong. I mean I get that he is her brother, but jeez she sounds like she wants to date him!
I love any of the books that have travel, but if I were Richard and Sharon, I would have left the three brats at the hotel and gone out on my own. I really would love to see the whales!

^Thank you for saying that; Dawn really did sound that way, didn't she? Although in Snowbound when Dawn was dreaming about Price, Sharon thought she (D) meant Jeff.

Why did I always think Mrs. DeWitt was dead? I guess because Franklin had full custody of his kids, and that's not that common for men. I don't know...

^Do we know that he had full custody? I mean for sure or just that his ex was never mentioned?

I don't know, I just assumed. When they built the addition on to the house I thought it was implied that all 7 of those kids were going to be under that roof until they were out of high school.

Maybe Mrs. DeWitt was the female version of Patrick.

^I thought the same Sparklymouse. Maybe the Ghosties didn't want to bother with a story for her? There was not a long courtship between the first time "we" met Franklin and when he and Mrs. Barrett got engaged.

Almost a year and half later, I do still wonder about Mrs. DeWitt. What I really want to know is why in all heck didn't Mrs. Barrett (I don't think we'll ever know if Franklin told his kids about the Barrett kids) tell her brood about the 4 DeWitts. I totally understand and liked that Franklin spent time getting to know Buddy, Suzi, and Marnie by himself. That said, Mrs. Barrett should have done the same thing, unless there really was a bitter ex Mrs. DeWitt in the picture. The only Mallory explanation I can come up with is maybe either one or both of the parents anticipated disaster and thought having someone not related along, that 3 of the kids knew might somehow help? Not at all fair to any of them, especially Mal, just a thought. The Spier-Schafer "Feud," sure got old before it even started. I did like the end scene with the triplets and Jeff at the airport, that was funny. It's too bad Jeff never invited any of them to visit him in CA. I wonder if Jeff ever did get hold of a yellow oxygen mask?

Mrs. Barrett didn't tell her kids about the other kids because she's a crappy mom. Sorry, that's harsh, but she would not even think about what her kids would think of her boyfriend having four kids. "Oh, they'll get used to it eventually" was probably the extent of her thought process.
Mary Anne basically ruined Richard and Sharon's alone time by sleeping in their hotel room, I don't know why they didn't just send her directly back to her own room. Also, framing one of the family photos where they were angry at each other and hanging it next to the normal one is weird. I wouldn't know what to say if I went to someone's house and they had two formal photos of their family hung next to each other and in one they looked like they all wanted to kill each other.
