^ Maybe Mrs. Dewit was really a lesbian...she wouldn't have wanted 4 kids cramping her new lifestyle then

Ha, for a lesbian, she certainly seemed to put out a lot! Four kids in quick succession...

Maybe it was after that that she realised she was better suited to an alternative lifestyle! "That's IT! No more thingy for me, thanks! I'm outta here" (whoosh, exit Mrs DeWitt).

Well, maybe the kids were just closer to their father. Maybe he wanted custody and she didn't mind giving it to him. I've just realized, we've officially crossed over to that place where we analyze the BSC waaay too in-depthly

I've just realized, we've officially crossed over to that place where we analyze the BSC waaay too in-depthly Oh, that happened a LOOOOOOOONG time ago! Probably on TWoP, when I wondered about Mrs Pike's birth with the triplets. It was likely she had a caesarean-section and it's not advisable for a woman to be pregnant again before 12 months. So I wondered whether it was entirely safe for Mrs Pike to pop out child after child, barely giving her incision time to heal... Sad, sad.

But would Msr Pike really have chosen to be pregnant with Vanessa? Maybe Vanessa was an accident! And once you're pregnant, it's a bit late to do anything about it (well, apart from abortion, I suppose).

^ after having triplets (and a one yr old!) the fact that Mrs Pike had the TIME to make another baby suggests she's a tad unusual. And considering she was pregnant with Nicky within a few months of Vanessa's birth (when she had FOUR kids under two) proves she's absolutely INSANE. If she'd had an "oops" with Vanessa, you'd think she'd be EXTRA careful about birth control, but no. Any sane woman would have her tubes tied ;D

That whole situation always annoyed me too. If they wanted to bring in a love interest for Mrs. Barrett, would it have been so bad for it to be a guy without children? Ann sure loved big, blended families despite what their "backstories" might turn out to be.
For sure. But in BSC Land, the only explanation needed is "Mrs. Pike just LOVES kids!"

I wonder if Mal's adopted since she says that she looks somewhat different than her siblings. And she is given so much authority over them at such a young age.

In one book, it says that they all have the same coloured hair, but Mal's just a little bit reddish. *shrugs* I never thought that Mal was anyone else's kid but theirs.

Nah, I was just kidding. It would be weird though. But yeah, she couldn't be anyone's kid besides the Pike's. She just seems to fit in. If there is a bunch of people creating chaos there always has to be a person who's being bothered by it.

There's loving kids and there's mental illness! I think Mrs Pike falls into the second category. Or she may have literally been so sleep deprived, she wasn't entirely sane. It's very possible.

Wait! No! I have a new theory. In Stoneybrook, women don't need to get pregnant to have kids. The stork brings them. Mrs Newton and Mrs Prezzioso were exceptions - they requested to be pregnant.

^ ;D ... I stand by my theory. Even if Mrs Pike merely requested her children, requesting a newborn baby so soon after having triplets (*shudders*) is still not the act of a rational woman. Unless of course the stork just dumps them, whether you like it or not.
