Mallory should go to Concord to the Alcotts' home. I just read The Mother-Daughter Book Club by Heather Vogel Frederick, which takes place in Concord (so the first book they read is Little Women, of course). I've been meaning to post about it because the Megan character is sort of Claudia/Stacey-esque. She's Chinese-American and doesn't do well in school. Her parents don't accept this and expect her to love science and math and someday go to MIT and then Harvard. But she really wants to be a fashion designer, and is good at fashion design stuff. At the beginning of the book, she hangs out with the popular girls, but she eventually stops when she realizes how mean they are. There should be some element of mystery in someone's storyline. It doesn't matter if it's not a real mystery. The baby-sitters have overactive imaginations and can always make one up.

You have to phonetically spell out lots of Boston-accented dialogue!

You have to phonetically spell out lots of Boston-accented dialogue! You better believe it! People from other places always fall victim to stereotypes (The Hobarts, Victoria Kent, The Winslows, pretty much all of the UK). So everyone in Boston will either be Irish, have a Red Sox shrine in their home, eat lots of clam chowder, and say WICKED PISSAH a lot.
