] But then you get wild cards like Mariel Rodowsky... I have a good friend named Mariel and I've never seen it used anywhere else... I know someone named Mariel.

Right now, I'm thinking of Mrs. Newton's name as either Polly or Sarah.

Sarah Newton. Yup, I'm just going called Mrs. Newton, Sarah. Has a nice ring to it.

The only Mariel's I have known have been Spanish. I somehow doubt Mariel Rodowsky is, but I guess you never really know... BSC #897 When the Rodowsky son's finally realize they were adopted and are not actually Spanish. j/k

Before Kristy's mom got married, her name was Elizabeth Taylor.

The only Mariel's I have known have been Spanish. Maybe because of the port of Mariel in Cuba. Mariel Hemingway was named after it too...and maybe Mariel Rodowsky was named after HER

^Pitbull naming a record El Mariel seems more respectable now. I previously assumed it was some type of Cuban cocktail, possibly containing rum.

Bringing up an old thread...even if we don't know Mrs. Newton's first name, we might know her maiden name...Anderson Claudia calls Jamie "James Anderson Newton" in #9.

Could Anderson be Jamie's middle name?

^I think what BooBoo meant Virgo is that yes Anderson is Jamie's middle name. It could also be Mrs. Newton's maiden name. Her name before marriage would have been ______ Anderson.

Yes, AMM did seem to like giving kids a family name for their middle names - Jessica Davis Ramsey, Dawn Read Schafer, etc. I assumed Davis was Mrs. Ramsey's maiden name, and maybe Read was one of Dawn's grandmothers' maiden names?

Read can also just be a plain first name, though. I think there was a girl named Read in one of the books somewhere, so Ann probably has a friend by that name. Ann herself is Ann Matthews Martin, so I guess that's why she likes it. It is a fairly common practice, though.

When I was little I thought it would be hilarious to have two kids named Read and Paige. Obviously I should never have kids.
Wasn't Davey in Tiger Eyes actually named Davis? It's been forever since I've read that book, but I saw the movie trailer the other day and thought of it.
