I imagine Shannon studying languages at college, moving to multiple countries post graduation to teach English and at the same time learning the national languages of the countries she’s in (I’m thinking Japanese, Russian, Spanish, Italian). She would find herself a wonderful husband and eventually move back to the states to be a college professor in languages.

Maybe a mayor in a city or town maybe in the midwest or even overseas or an appointed government official.
I never was much into Shannon, sometimes she came across to me as too Mary Sue-ish.

I think Mary Anne would take that title over Shannon.
I love Shannon’s arc…from the total snob looking down on Kristy to the good neighborhood friend who’s there in a pinch.

^ We get to see lots of sides of her and that makes her fun to read about.
I see Shannon being some type of director at an elite private school. Maybe a boarding school, foreign language academy, college prep school, etc. The kind of place where their graduates all go onto the Ivies. I see her being in education (it seems like a lot of people do) but to me she makes sense teaching younger kids. She grew up in this world and I could see her wanting to help other kids in that same position. Plus she has such diverse academic interests. I don't see her teaching just one subject, but being a principal or headmistress would let her stay involved in everything.

I think Mary Anne would take that title over Shannon. I don't agree that Mary Anne is any "Mary Sue" character. Mary Anne has lots of fears and insecurities and is not some "perfect-looking" blond model either. Mary Anne is real and down-to-Earth and has her endearingly awkward times. I love Shannon's arc...from the total snob looking down on Kristy to the good neighborhood friend who's there in a pinch. Shannon's arc was pretty good...especially since the books showed that Shannon's family was not perfect either. And I agree that she became a very good friend. I see Shannon being some type of director at an elite private school. I can see that for her also...especially heading up an elite private school.

I see Shannon as a barrister or working in international affairs. Maybe she might be living in France as an ambassador

^ So did I. The thought of Shannon improving relations between countries while serving drinks makes me chuckle.
