I can see her as a Vet, since she loves cats and animals and stuff and also I could see her as a Social Worker.

A vet would be interesting! Mary Anne would have to love science, though, and I don`t see her much of a sciencey-gal.

Ann seems pretty sure that Mary Anne would be a teacher someday, and MA is really organized and enjoys reading, so I always thought she'd be a good elementary school teacher-librarian.

^ Mary Anne has neat hand writing but there's a chance she won't teach cursive because I remember reading an article that some schools won't be teaching cursive because of the useage of computers.

I think I agree about her being a school librarian. I don't think she's tough enough to be a teacher, but a school librarian fits!

That's sad schools won't be teaching cursive. They need it for a few things if not everything, and it's beautiful if not done messy. Signatures, art projects, prescriptions , legal documents etc. Though computers are more convenient, they have really made people lazy.
She can teach younger grades if not older ones. And I can see her do something recreational at school like teaching knitting or cooking.

I love the idea of her in family law for some reason; and I don't mean like a financial consultant, I mean more someone working for a charity like the Salvation Army. Teaching wouldn't suit her IMO: she'd take criticism too personally and I see her as being too much of a perfectionist not to get disilluioned quickly.

I can see Mary Anne working as a Secretary. Like one of those businesses in the city.
It's sad, that schools getting rid of cursive at school. Also pencil and paper. That every student is learning to use the IPADS. Some school kids learn from paper. But, some already using the IPADS in kindergarten. Down the road like 5 or 7 years later. Kids won't have to bring pencils, erasers & paper. They just bring IPADS.

^ That might get expensive for parents of kids who are clumsy.

^ Yeah, I agree. How can poor/middle class afford it?

I think the district pays for it, if it is a school program.
You can't write on iPads very well, so I don't think they replace a pen and paper unless you get keyboards for them. Textbooks, sure.

^Forgot about that. That they will need a keyboard for their Ipads.

A vet would be interesting! Mary Anne would have to love science, though, and I don`t see her much of a sciencey-gal. I feel the same way; I don't think Mary Anne is quite tough enough to handle to messy and/or death related aspects of working with animals. Her ability to sympathize with people would make her a shoe-in for social work, though. Also, I think she could handle teaching younger kids, but she'd get eaten alive in high school. It would be Mr. Trout all over again!
