I have The Complete Guide to the Baby-Sitters Club. It would be nice if it got updated since it got printed before the series was completed.

I just bought this book online. I normally only let myself get BSC books from thrift stores, but I made an exception for this book and the chain letter book, since I don't expect I would ever find them in person.
Anyway, HOLY SMOKES, I was not expecting this book to be so indepth! I'm even surprised at how small the font is! I can't believe how much work must have gone into making this. This book is going to entertain me for a long time.

I doubt it can be viewed anywhere online...as celaeno said, it's really in-depth. Right now there's a copy on eBay for a dollar and another one for $5 I do like it but it kind of bugs me that it's not really "complete"

I know! Why was this book published while there were books still coming out?

I think it was meant to tie in with the promotion of the 100th regular series book. Publishing it after the series ended would be a bad idea, marketing-wise, since only diehards like us would buy it -- the series ended because demand for the books was dropping sharply, so if they waited until the guide would be truly "complete" they would lose a ton of potential buyers. There is also this, which hasn't been touched in years but is better than nothing: community.livejournal.com/cg_project

I broke down and ordered this from Amazon today. I needed something cheap to push me over the $25 mark for free shipping on something else, so I hope it's worth it.

^ it definitely is. even though it doesn't cover the whole series, it's amazingly in-depth. i refer to it all the time.

It's a good reference tool but it's also, I don't know, sort of dry. Remember those cute bookmarks that came with certain books with info on individual sitters, their likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc.? They had pictures of the girls on them and I liked them a lot. I sort of wanted something like that with the CG...fun pics, something visually appealing. The map of Stoneybrook in the back just reminds me of the mystery game board.

I do remember those bookmarks. My Mallory book didn't come with one even though I bought it new, first edition at the bookstore. Just another kick in the face to Mal, I guess.

I remember the bookmarks! I had all of them at one point. They're long gone now, but I still have my books that they were in. The books still have the place where I tore out the bookmarks along the perforations. I wish I still had them; I'd totally use them now. I like the guide, but I too wish it was truly complete. Lila is right though about the loss of potential buyers had they waited until the series ended.

I didn't remember seeing any typos in this but I found one today...under "other BSC people" there's a Nathan from #71 who is a "short guy with thick classes"

I have it in word, and it's extremely useful for the RPG.

I saw a hardbound copy of this at a Goodwill today. Anyone have the hardbound kind? I didn't get it because I already have a copy, but it made it look very official.

I didn't even know that there was a hardcover version of the book until you said you saw one, sparklymouse.
