The book starts off with a description of a babysitting job. Albeit, it's towards the last few minutes of the job, but I as so floored by finding a job description in a BSC FF book.
Other then that... Eh. I liked watching Alan grow and do all these sweet (albeit excessive) things for Claudia.

It reminded me of the kind of stuff guys do for girls on reality dating shows. ;D

I just can't get into the whole Claudia/Alan pairing. I liked him better at the beginning of the series when he was acting like a goof and spying on Kristy.

I just read this for the first time and I really enjoyed it (I'm finding that I actually like the FF series quite a bit). I liked the way Alan was portrayed. I don't get why Claudia was so sympathetic towards Jeremy though. First, he goes out with Stacey and breaks up their friendship, then he changes his mind, and dumps Stacey so he can go out with Claudia. Seriously? Does that not show what kind of guy he is? Compared, Alan is a dream boyfriend!

Same. I never liked Jeremny, either. I never saw what was so great about Jeremy, anyway.

Me neither, he seemed pretty dull to me.

Yeah, he wasn't exactly Mr. Fascinating, was he? I think I remember him being from Olympia, WA. That makes him a little bit awesome.

^ To me, Jeremny will never be awesome, regardless of where he's from.

^agreed! I don't like Jermy!
I did like this book though b/c I enjoyed seeing Alan grow up. I like to think that jokesters and class clowns are capable of some depth and it was nice to see in this book. I also liked that Stacey and Claudia made up. I find it strange though that Stacey was okay with Claudia going after Jermy when they broke up, but I guess she figured he was sloppy seconds

I have a special place for Alan (probably since I've played him on RPGs for the last few years!), and have always thought he was a total sweetheart in this book. Even in the regular series I felt his heart was genuinely meant to be good, but he got confused with his feelings for Kristy then...I would love to have seen why his feelings changed from Kristy to Claudia -- but I DO love them together in this book.
Claudia is sweet for not breaking his heart - I wonder if Alan would ever find out about the note swap!

I didn't like that Alan totally lost his edge as soon as he thought a girl liked him. (Assuming he didn't know about the thuggish 7th grader who threatened Claudia. Yikes.) I guess Stacey's Movie was foreshadowing for his behavior.
I did like Claudia's letter writing adventure and loved that she suddenly remembered spell check again. I bet little boys and girls all over the country have the name Jeremy spelled each way she spelled it. ;P
Jeremy was definitely the least liked new guy they brought in. I don't think he was interested in Claudia at all. He knew she liked him and enjoyed someone chasing after him. I bet he would have found a way to put Claudia and Erica against each other next.

I... I guess I was a little confused about Alan's character change here and in #12. It was sweet, but a little sudden. That said, Cary hijinks are always welcome, and I liked Claudia's confusion about her feelings for Jeremy (again, both here and in #12). That was one of the most realistic things about this series aside from the CA Diaries - if you ignore their ages, of course.

It seemed pretty unrealistic to me that Stacey was completely ok with Claudia and Jeremy getting together. Like, it's understandable that Stacey was over Jeremy and was back to Ethan, but really, most people would not be ok with their ex and exBFF immediately getting together. Glad to see Stacey and Claudia make up though, although I don't think they ever really got 100% back together.
