What's even worse than thinking about the charges as adults is thinking about the fact that Janine and Charlie would both be pushing 40.

It's weird to think about when the first book came out, I was about 2 and a half, and when FF "Graduation Day," came out I was about to turn 17.

All the pets would have died long ago, and probably more of the grandparents, if you'll excuse my morbidity.

^ I've thought about that, too. Uncle Joe would definitely be dead. Nannie might still be alive; I could see her as one of those women that's somewhat healthy and active into her 90's. Don't know about Granny and Pop-Pop Porter; I think there was some inconsistency as to how old they were during the series. Tigger would be dead; can't you see Mary Anne getting him a plot in a pet cemetary and putting flowers on it?

^ Mary Anne got Tigger in 1988, so he would be 21. It's a long shot, but he could still be alive. Karen would probably be on Crystal Light the 20th by now.

^ It's not unheard of for cats to live that long...I pet sit for a pair of them that are 17 years old and still kickin'.

They are all older than me! I will be 22 in August. That list makes me feel old.

No fair having you 22-year-olds saying you feel old; some of us here are closer to 30 than 20...just sayin'!
Like, myself. (27)

^I agree, Wenonah. I'll be turning 30 in August. 22 is definitely NOT old!

Now, I do feel old when we have 18 or 19-year-old privates showing up in my dh's unit. That does feel strange.

I just realized that Ann was 28 when she wrote Bummer Summer and 31 when she started the BSC. I feel like a total slacker now. She's a year younger than my parents, which is very comforting because all my other favorite childhood authors are 70+ and I'll be very sad when they start dying.
