Some of us are starting to be the ages of the parents in the series. I imagine the parents of younger children (like the Newtons) were no more than 30. (speaking as the mother of an almost-3-year-old and a baby on the way)

I just realized that Ann was 28 when she wrote Bummer Summer and 31 when she started the BSC. I feel like a total slacker now. She's a year younger than my parents, which is very comforting because all my other favorite childhood authors are 70+ and I'll be very sad when they start dying. WHAT!? I'm 28 in a few months...why haven't I published a book? I've gotta get on the ball and start writing! Seriously, though, I would love to write a kids' book, but it's always been a far-off dream. I wouldn't mind writing a picture book. I'd have to get someone else to illustrate it for me. It's also weird to think of the moms and dads in this series being the same age as me now, because whenever I reread the books, I sort of slip back into my kid mindset as if I'm the same age as the BSC girls again.

I remember how old it sounded when Dawn mentioned Carol was 32 and Kristy mentioning her 37 year old mom was too old to wear a bikini. Umm....yeah, I'm 30. It seems a lot younger now than it did when I was 10 lol.

I'm the same way. The BSC girls are written very maturely, in a way. Like I *still* feel like they're older than me sometimes.

I'm reading Claudia and the Bad Joke and Betsy mentions her sister Pat who is 23 and has a baby. This brought back memories of when I first read this book and thought, "yeah, she's old."
I'm 23. ;D

Betsy had to have been a caboose, because I don't think there were any siblings between Pat and Betsy.

I was born on June 3rd, 1989. I recently turned 20, wow that seems such a bigger number than 19, especially since I lost the teen part of the number. People say I act like I'm forty and have the world on my shoulders. I remember being 10-11 and curling up at night with a BSC or a goosebump or an Alice or Anastasia book and just reading a large part of the night through. Heh, I'd totally wake up groggy as heck in the morning. My mind still hasn't accepted the idea that they're young girls and like someone mentioned before, I still feel like they're older than I am. BTW, my 20 year old self is finding little gems of knowledge in the book that my 10 year old wouldn't have picked up.

I'm the same age as Karen & Clarie. I'm 27 now. I was born August 15, 1982. I didn't start reading this book, when I was 11. Thanks, for figuring their ages out, of today's world.
