What'd you guys think of Claudia and the Friendship Feud? Personally, I enjoyed it. I liked that Claudia became friends with Erica. During the conversation between Claudia and Stacey in chapter 14, it seemed like Stacey was a smidge more concerned with preserving her relationship with Jeremy than her friendship with Claudia (or what was left of it, if anything). I know Stacey was feeling insecure, but still...
Thoughts?

I feel so bad for Claud in this. Also, I get the feeling Jeremy is playing both Claud and Stace against each other. Maybe not intentionally, but still. I really like Erika, and Claud and Erika's friendship.

I don't really get a clear read on Jeremy. Perhaps he wanted Claudia as a friend or a back up girlfriend (which contradicts his behaviour in later books). I liked seeing Erica in a more detailed light, and it's nice to see Claudia learn some lessons about what defines a friend. I thought it was intresting that she saw Erica as her more creative friend, rather then Stacey, who is more of a shopping friend.

I like Claudia's "substitute Stacey" better than Rachel. It was nice to finally get to know other characters. I know BSC isn't one for continuity, but you would think the abuse incident (#117) would come up, if not in their conversation, at least by way of placing Erica in the reader's mind. (I'm pretty sure it didn't mention it, but maybe it did?). Its a pretty big deal...

I can't get myself to read #117, so I figure maybe that's why the incident isn't mentioned at all.

I would've liked it if Claudia and Erica talked about the Nicholls's as well. Like you wrote, what happened in that book was a pretty big deal.

I love all of Claudia's books in the FF series. Her books are the funniest ones to read.

Trying to get back into some BSC after a long break...
Stacey is such a little troll. Her "hands off my man" speeches were infuriating. Jeremy sounded like a total tool anyway. I don't believe he didn't know exactly why Claudia and Stacey were fighting.
I didn't care for the subplot with Peaches and her friend Molly. I know they were trying to show Claudia that Peaches met Russ because she had her heart broken, but I didn't think you could compare the Peaches/Molly fight with the Stacey/Claudia one.
It sounded like they got some new stores at the mall. The name Flashbox sounds like a porn store. I wouldn't mind some Tortilla Queen for lunch. It made me laugh that they went to Old Navy. That's just too normal.
This made me laugh: Take that, Mary Anne. Braids are in.

^LOVE that quote sparklymouse! I also love that Claudia says that's the biggest statement, but wasn't she saying it was babyish when MA did it?
I just read this one for the first time. I liked it okay. I felt bad for Claudia, but I also thought she should have given Stacey a chance to explain. Stacey could have approached it better and also could have told Jeremy that she had to fix things with Claudia before dating him. But, they are just 13!

Okay I normally like Stacey, but she was really terrible in this one. I couldn't believe the conversation in the end where she basically is just trying to keep Claudia away from Jeremy instead of making up with her. I do believe that Stacey was the one in the wrong in this entire situation - it's the bro code that you don't date someone your friend likes.
I do think Jeremy is a jerk and they shouldn't be fighting over him b/c he seems to be playing both girls in this one.

I also enjoyed the Claudia and Erica friendship development. Interesting to learn (or re-learn?) that Erica has short hair. I would like to see more Claudia, Mary Anne and Erica all hang out.
There was a lot of Thanksgiving in this one which was quite fitting for me as Thanksgiving here is on the weekend!

Wow, this one was painful to read. In the regular series, it's common for the girls to get into fights or do mean things, but it all feels forgivable in the end. But Stacey in this one...I feel like the FF series is going to permanently change my view on her, because what she's doing is pretty irredeemable.
I think this book (and some of the other FF books) capture the feeling of being 13-years-old well. I can totally remember how it feels to fall head-over-heels for a new friend at that age - that feeling when you make a new friend and in less than a day you feel like "THIS IS MY NEW BFF AND I'VE NEVER CONNECTED TO SOMEONE LIKE THIS AND WE ARE GOING TO BE BEST FRIENDS FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES!!!"

I'm just reading the FF series on my Kindle now. I remember being middle age and getting huge crushes on the drop of a hat. Sure am glad I've grown up. I'm not done with this book yet, but at the sitting job that Claudia and Erica first go to Mrs. Pike says Vanessa has a ballet recital. Since when was Vanessa interested in ballet?!?!?!?

Not much story but fine writing of the characters, Claudia nicely conflicted, as I think was said, very much feeling mad, sad and guilty at the same time. The friendship with Erica was pretty well-done, including Claudia bringing up Stacey a lot to her (she did it so much it was likely that it would cause anger but not too predictable and the anger that happened ended up, nicely, being pretty brief, Erica able to get over it).
Here Stacey was too jerky, I could see her being a bit suspicious but she still shouldn't have been so openly hostile and trying-to-be-controlling, demanding, and also near the end very unapologetic. Jeremy talking on the phone with Claudia and that turning into over an hour did seem odd for him just wanting be friends with Claudia even though he knew that would be difficult, pretty hard to understand him.

Gaaads...that entire Claudia/Stacey feud was so stupid and pointless and it was dragged on for way too long.
Yes, it was nice to see them befriend other girls outside the BSC.
I actually see all the BSC doing this in high school...but just leave the feud over the boyfriend out of it.
That fight-over-a-boyfriend plotline was far too silly and inane for words. 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩
