^ I'm sure we thought similar things when we were that age... maybe not as harsh. But now we recognise the book for the uh, 'lame'-ness we love

LOL, yeah, it was just the drinking/smoking/sex at the age of 13 I was all about. No one I knew was organizing day camps for neighborhood children at that age, but I don't think our livers were all that taxed yet, either

^Don't feel bad, I was still playing barbies at age 17...can't believe I just admitted that, lol
Truth be told though, I don't think their is anything wrong with still playing with toys no matter what age you are, I think sometimes we all need an escape into childhood.

I played with Barbies until I was 13, then when my niece was old enough, I played Barbies with her all the time, when I was about 16-17. Honestly, I was happy to have the excuse to play with her and still get to play with them myself!

Oh my goodness, that review made me lol. "BSC books are way too babyish for 13-year-olds, they should definitely only be read by those babyish 12-year-olds."
Ah, to be young and delusional again, and to believe that, no matter what age I was, my age was the demarcation line for maturity, and that anyone with a younger age was sooooo babyish.

I basically never played with Barbies, but my American Girls weren't stored away until I was at least 15, and I bought a lovely German dollwhen I was in Bavaria at 17!

LOL. Maybe there are some 13-year-olds out there who do those things, but I've certainly never met any. My niece is almost 14 and she doesn't even like guys yet! If I ever got wind of her having sex with anyone at her age, I'd freak. And so would her mother. My next-door neighbor's kid is 13 and he still acts like a little kid most of the time, playing outside on the swingset and such. I'm sure the kid who wrote that silly review was grossly exaggerating things - note how they didn't say THEY smoked, drank, or sexed it up with anyone, they just said "kids in my grade" do those things. Got to love how grown-up some of these youngsters think they are. ;D

Okay, maybe I was speaking from personal experience. Not the sex at 13 part, but definately drinking and fooling around. I did all that stuff pretty young, but I was secretly a book worm. I remember being about 15/16 and telling my now best friend, "No, really, I read all the time. For fun." I hid it for a long time, don't ask me why. I was way too into being 'cool'. Now I look at young girls doing the same stuff and think, 'wow, waaay too young'. Oh the stories I could tell you. But won't.

Heh, I never tried to act like I was cool, because I knew it would never work. I'd have just come across as a total poser.

I was still playing with Barbies at 13. lol It's okay, so was I. I don't think I ever really stopped playing with Barbies until I started high school lol. I loved acting out stories with them so that was probably why ;D.

I still get the urge to play with my barbies and my doll house sometimes. My dad made my doll house for me so it's something that is very important to me.

Afton loved her Barbies and "played" with them until forever! She did plays with them also. I thought that I was going to have to find clothes for all of them when I went through all of hers a month or so ago, but to my surprise she had everyone of them dressed and their hair done neatly, stored in their tubs. She has hundreds, she really enjoyed them. I think it's great that kids of all ages play with them, it's a great outlet.

I did have one Barbie and one Ken that I played with along with three dolls. One I had decided was an older boy, one his baby brother, and the other his girlfriend. I was much more into stuffed animals than dolls.
My outlet and what I truly most loved to play with were my play mobile kids. I would sometimes use dominos and legos to act out stories with them. They all had names, they all even were matched up romantically, boys/girls. Lol! I will always regret that at age 16 or 17 I sold all my treasured memories of those toys to someone for a measly $10, to a woman I didn't even like! For her kids. My Grandma had even knitted felt sleeping bags for them.

^That is so weird! I had play mobile kids and I used to mix them with my legos and dominos as well. I used to make boats with my legos and have my play mobile kids sail away on them! I still have all of mine.
