Jezebel.com did two little articles about the reissuing and ensuing discussion is interesting...
The bad thing is that we don't know how much is being released. I am wondering if they'll cut out entire books out of the series (like with what the did with the graphic novels), squish details into different cooks, create new books, or kill off the super specials and all the other spin offs?
Anyone shares my fears?

Yes and no. I think it would be terrible if they did those things to our beloved books, but I don't see it happening. I read the Jezebel.com articles, and while I got a good chuckle out of the wish list article, I have a hard time believing that any of that stuff - Claudia not hiding her junk food, Mal being less whiny - will happen in the reissue. To me, reissue means re-publish with some updated info (i.e. having DVD players instead of VCRs), not revamp the series entirely. Of course, I could be completely and utterly wrong. It depends on how well the series sells, I guess. If the reissue is really successful, they might start making big changes to the books. That would be really sad if that happened.

Someone should make an icon- to me, Stacey will always have a perm. Any takers?

I'm curious about what they're going to change. Like a lot of you, I'm not in love with them modernising the books, even though I can understand why Scholastic thinks it's necessary to do so. I do like the idea of a BSC 2.0 spinoff, though! Or, if they wanted a teen series, age the girls up a year or two so they're still baby-sitting, but are dealing with teen issues. I don't think it would be that much of a stretch since they always acted much older than 11 & 13! ;D Yeah I guess I could understand why Scholastic would feel the need to modernize the books, but I really don't think they need to. When I fell in love with the series, a lot of stuff was outdated, but it didn't turn me off of them. I enjoyed reading them regardless *shrug*. Oh well, it doesn't really matter as long as they don't go overboard like they did with SVH re-releases. They changed so many things in there (and half of them were unnecessary) that it felt like I was reading a different series . Still loved the stories, but the changes were too much.

Oh, I totally get what you mean! I don't think they really need to change anything in the books. When you think about it, a lot of the things Stacey and Claudia wear are back in style, or have been recently, for instance. (Leggings, anyone?) I don't think Scholastic gives its readers enough credit - kids can enjoy things that aren't brand new and ultra modern, after all. But I can see them being worried about it. Someone should make an icon- to me, Stacey will always have a perm. Any takers? If I could, I would! ;D

I was just thinking about all the libraries that discarded their BSC collections in recent years. Sucks to be them if this sparks an interest in the series again. And I do say "if" because this whole experiment could be a huge failure.

The Jezebel comments about Are You there God? were spot-on. That being said I do look at some books and find myself wondering what (or who) they mean by things that are outdated.

I don't like this idea at all! It takes away from the kids being kids and acting like mini adults with all of today's stuff.

I would hope that it doesn't because it was so popular, but SVH had also been popular and the whole reissue thing flopped so nothing will surprise me at this point.

That's pretty cute, if a bit boring. A little too cotton candy pink, but there were a lot of pink covers in the series after all...nice that the blocks are there!

The cover is pretty cute, I will always and forever be partial to the old covers, but I think they did a pretty decent job.

And I do say "if" because this whole experiment could be a huge failure. My library discarded them not too long before I started working there. I did tell my coworker who purchases the kids' fiction that the BSC was coming back - she didn't even know! I told her she was going to have to buy at least the prequel, because I need to read it.

The cover of Kristy's Great Idea is cute but I don't think I like the pink background that much. I think the background should have been another color.
