I pre-ordered and pre-paid for it on Amazon. I know I can probably get it for less if I wait until after the release date, but it probably helps show Scholastic what the interest level is for pre-orders to be placed.

Hmm, it's definitely possible. How cool would it be if we were the reason this book was made possible? ;D Wouldn't it be awesome if she gave us a shout-out? I know I'm jumping the gun a little, but that would be pretty amazing if she did! ;D I really hope that we get to see the Watson-Elizabeth relationship develop. They were dating long enough to get engaged in the first book, so it would be fun to see them as a new couple (and maybe I'm asking for too much, but....perhaps get a bit more insight on the Watson-Lisa divorce??). And seeing pre-stroke Mimi again will be great. I'm getting way too excited for this book! Lol getting a shout-out would be really awesome ;D. And don't worry, we are all way excited for this book. I'd really like to see the Watson/Elizabeth relationship develop too and more on the Watson/Lisa divorce too (and pre-stroke Mimi ;D). Not sure if they'll touch on that in this one since the BSC seems to be the primary focus but maybe another book will be written if this one sells well come April and all of that will be in there! ;D I can't believe my excitement over this either; I feel like a kid again lol ;D. It's been a long time since I've asked for a BSC book for my birthday, Christmas or otherwise. It's going to be so awesome to buy one at the bookstore again ;D. I can't remember either Kylie! lol ;D Probably when I was 10/11 years old and I'm 20 now so ten years? Wow . We definitely have to do something special here for it's release ;D. I am so freaking excited!! ;D

Good point about the pre-orders Rainbow Girl, I don't mind paying a bit extra for a good cause, I will pre-order it too.
Pre-stroke Mimi is so exciting! I'm really interested how they will do this, I assume Super Special style? Considering Stacey won't be involved with the other three at all. I'm still a bit befuddled why she isn't doing a sequel... after all, most of the fans are adults, hmm...

Like many of you, I think this prequel is testing the waters. If it does well in sales, then we might get our sequel after all! ;D And I agree, we should do something to celebrate its relase! I didn't think of it until you guys mentioned it, but it's been so long since I bought a BSC book!I kind of feel like a kid again, since I'm so looking forward to it!

^Me too! I also haven't bought a new BSC book in over a decade. I can't wait for April to get here so we can read this. This definitely calls for something special to celebrate.

I finally heard back from Scholastic Customer Service, and the one thing they told us that we didn't already know is that the official release date Scholastic has for the book is March 12, 2010. So maybe it'll come out even earlier than Amazon says it will!

I wonder if the book will have the "updates" that some of the newer BSC books did (email, cell phones, etc) or if it will be written as if it was taking place in the 80s?

I wonder if the book will have the "updates" that some of the newer BSC books did (email, cell phones, etc) or if it will be written as if it was taking place in the 80s? I'm guessing they'll keep the technology minimal. It's plausible that a group of girls between 6th and 7th grade might not have cell phones/email or be real big into computer/video games, even today. But if this book had been written in the 80s, they might have made a big deal about Claudia having her own phone line, and I bet they won't really mention that now either.

I agree, I hope they keep it neutral in regards to technology/signs-of-the-times. I don't want it to feel particularly 80s/90s/2000s.
Do you think they'll include baby-sitting stuff? In the BSC books, they managed to squeeze in baby-sitting stories even when the book had no reason to include baby-sitting (eg, the Portrait Collection and BSC Remembers). I think they dropped the baby-sitting later in the books (like California Diaries and Friends Forever) because kids weren't interested in juvenile topics like that anymore. I'm guessing they'll stick to the pattern they followed in CD and FF and not try to squeeze in baby-sitting.
