These parts struck me as odd, though...

Was she? I would have expected "the shy one."

Mallory the writer and Jessi's best friend, who loudly prided herself on being completely colorblind yet felt the need to bring up the fact that Jessi was black in every single book that she narrated. Bah.

But there was no real need to like Mallory, not when there were six other unique personalities to identify with.

This is kind of funny:

Martin, who has won a Newbery Honor for other works but is destined to forever be known as the BSC mom.

And David Levithan had every fan's dream job!

The article is a little harsher on Mallory than I would have expected. And I mean, I once suggested that Mr. and Mrs. Pike hoped Mallory would drown, so if I think something is harsh on Mal it's probably legit caustic.

Last I heard Meghan Lahey (TV Mary Anne) was a high school counselor? She was interviewed though so maybe that's changed.
