I wouldn't have minded if they made a super special about the New Year. Like for New Year's Eve, and with each chapter it would get closer and closer to midnight? I think a Halloween SS would have been fun if it was done like Snowbound, with everyone in Stoneybrook but all involved in "different" stories.

^Lol, BooBoo, I can almost see them all rushing to get whatever one thing done or decided on (to start the new year) prior to the stroke of midnight. Of course if any type of mystery were going on, naturally it would have to be solved. I (still) would have loved more in Stoneybrook Super Specials that similar to IA covered "regular" days/times in the girls' lives. This is off topic but I've shared being a Bobbsey Twin fan. Even for those books, I tend to enjoy a little more the ones set in Lakeport (where the Bobbseys' lived) as opposed to some high flung place. With the Bobbseys they were constantly travelling due to the dad's owning a lumber company (apparently he was quite the contractor/businessman). My BSC love is above all else so no comparison just similar train of thought.

in high school there was an assignment where we had to write a paper about our mothers, and i learned so much. it would be really cool if the bsc had this assignment too. i would especially like to read about kristy and abby's moms because their stories are the saddest, and claudia and jessi's moms just because i like them so much.

I mean this in a friendly way, but I have to say that I laughed when a Memorial Day SS was mentioned. Yawn!

^I am not much of a history buff nor am I very knowledgeable about different wars/battles. I am also of the pacifist mind set. However, Memorial Day besides being a long weekend is a time to somehow (for/to me) at least think a thank you to those who have served. In Stoneybrook, (and anywhere for that matter), this could have easily been expanded to "serving the community in some way." That would have made for an awesome super special to have had both. It could have been a more genuine and lasting "Jessi's Wish" (in terms of the community projects). It's interesting reading everyone's thoughts. The only drawback is lol it makes me wish a lot of these storylines were written (for us) or that "we" would write them!

^ That's a very sweet idea and also very "American" You can't get much more all-American than the BSC girls.

^ That's a very sweet idea and also very "American" I don't understand why serving the community would be 1) a uniquely American idea and 2) something that makes you go .

^Do they ever even mention Memorial/Labor Day except in passing?
I don't think serving the community makes for a fun plot, though, sadly. I hate Jessi's Wish.

I meant American in a good way. No disrespect. After all, it is an American holiday, right, therefore it's very American.

a memorial day super special would have been really cool. i always like the part in aloha where claudia has to come to terms with the fact that the japanese bombed pearl harbor, and in european vacation where stacey visits the beaches of normandy. the writers could have done something really amazing with a whole book of those things. I loved those parts too. I didn't give a Memorial Day SS much though upon first reading this thread, but now I'm thinking it's something that could have potentially been done very well!

I like the idea of a New Year's eve super special, or even one that was more about Halloween. I always enjoyed the holiday books a lot.

Yeah. I'm trying to figure out if the girls would have a sleepover or if they would celebrate New Year's with their families.

^My automatic response is of course, it'd be a sleepover or in some other way a group "party." I would love for a family based New Year's, I don't mean Karen-centered either! There was so little true interaction between the girls and their families other than in passing or Claudia and school related. If this were a super special, maybe it could have been both like the Thanksgiving scene (one of my very favorite BSC scenes of all-time) in "Get Well Soon, Mallory). The Pikes spent most of the day as a family however for a coupe hours the girls came to visit Mallory. New Years could be the same thing. Families during the "Eve" and friends the afternoon after. Or vice versa, either way, there'd be a balance of both which as I said in Stoneybrook is rare.
