Many of these kids had school issues, some had absentee or sucky parents, some were just shady kids. Which one is most likely to suck at life?

This is "horrible" but I voted for poor Emily. Yes, she was adopted by a millionaire. I think Edie and Watson were basically good people. However, in Emily's case, it seemed like way too much focus, turmoil? was centered on her "mother" named Nannie. One day Emily is going to (maybe) age and start thinking about why it is that the parents who adopted her, don't spend much time with her. I hope that changes in time, just saying. On a "lighter" note of sorts she might also wonder why in all heck she was struck with the surname "Thomas."

I voted for Bobby purely because I loathe the Gianellis.

Sorry, Oldhickory. I knew I would forget someone. Too much troubled youth in Stoneybrook, I guess.
From the first time we met them I figured all three Barretts were doomed. I don't think gaining a step-dad and 4 step-siblings was going to help them in the long run either. They'd probably slip even further through the cracks.
Zoar3, I agree with your choice of Emily, but for different reasons. I picture her being babied forever. Every problem she has with discipline, grades, whatever will be blamed on her traumatic time at the orphanage. Plus what if she's not really language delayed? Maybe she's just stupid.

^That really is sad! I also sort of think that Emily is often smothered. She might get to the point where she feels there's no reason to do anything for herself. Also what do we know about her time at the orphanage? Was she there almost from birth or did her parents surrender her later in (her young) life? Was she neglected at this place? Just curious.

^ i can't say for everybody, but when my sister was found, they figured she was only about a day old. also she was sick when we got her, and so was another baby from the same orphanage, so they told us the conditions at the orphanage probably weren't the best.

Me too.
Out of the choices, I'm not sure who to vote for.

How is he gross? I haven't read about Buddy in a long time. This thread made me laugh so hard, all the time feeling guilty for it.

I gotta vote for Buddy. Maybe because I just read the first book he appeared in and just felt really bad for him.

I voted for David Michael. Because he is abandoned by his father and he is constantly overshadowed by Sam, Charlie, Kristy, Karen, Andrew and Emily. All of that has got to do something to the boy's psyche.

Buddy, for sure. He doesn't have an involved father, his mother sucks, he had reading issues, and he's more attached to the BSC. All that alone could make him least successful in life.
