Who do you think has the best self-esteem?

I choose Abby! Sorry Dawn fans but I think Abby's the true individual. She doesn't try to fit in or change herself to satisfy people. She knows who she is and she's not afraid to display it.

I chose Abby, too. It was a toss up between her and Kristy, but I chose Abby because I think Kristy is intimidated by her.

I chose Abby. She doesn't change herself for other people and she's not intimidated by Kristy.

This is tricky. I don't think any of them had the highest of self-esteems. I vote for Kristy and Logan. Sorry to go against the majority but think Abby and Dawn had the lowest, along with probably Mary Anne.

Zoar, why do you think that Abby had low self-esteem?

That's a pretty interesting viewpoint, Zoar. Why do you think Abby has the least self-esteem?

^I think Abby had low self esteem for reasons I said in the "Jessi Spano Meltdown" thread. Abby, before her Dad died, was probably a completely different person than the one we came to know. I never felt we got to truly "know" her. Like, Dawn, Abby focused most all her energy on projecting her angst? uncertainty? even low self esteem? onto others. Sorry to be a broken record but imo, Dawn cared as much about animal rights and ecology (though I think she was more invested in that) as I "care" about....Dawn. No that's mean! How about....as I care about football. There, that's not insulting any BSC member. I don't think Dawn truly knew what she believed at heart, just that it gave her a sense of power and worth to constantly tell her peers that "sugar=poison" for example. Does that even make sense? I admit to being tired right now. Onto, Abby. The reason I dislike her character so much is because she tended to deliberately make fun of people to their faces in order to get attention or a laugh. I am not a joke (or pun) person. I do love to laugh just not at someone else's expense. I could never get over how Abby, on her first meeting with Kristy and the TB's, had the nerve to put down Kristy in front of David Michael. In other words, she was using "jokes" as a means of making friends. Dawn used "her (uncertain) crusade" to not necessarily make friends, but get noticed. Same type of thinking and the root of which was probably low self esteem. Yikes, scary what I just rambled. I hope it makes some sense, if not lol, I'll try again in the morning.

^ Please tell me what Abby said to Kristy. I never realized that.

I'll check later, Funky, but basically it was in "Kristy and the Dirty Diapers." The TB's invite the Stevensons into their home for the night because the realator thought the S's were moving in the next day and there was no power in their new house. For some reason in Stoneybrook (maybe it is when you have the $) it is the responsibility of the realtor to arrange for electricity to be turned on. Anyway, I'm not quite sure that we read about this "live" in this book or later on, but apparently Abby "entertains" DM by making fun of Kristy. I will check the book later.

^ I know what you're talking about. I think Abby does impressions during dinner, and later, Kristy is walking by the room that Abby is staying in. DM (and others - maybe Karen and Andrew were there?) were laughing at something with Abby, and Kristy wonders if Abby was making fun of her.

It's on Pages 72 and 73. Anna has just serenaded the TB's with her piano playing. After, she and Kristy talk and it sounds like they were on the path to becoming friends. (Which is too bad they never did). "She (Anna) seemed genuinely interested in everything." (That she and K were talking about).
Here it is. "Not Abby, though. The moment she wasn't the center of attention, forget it. She just wandered off without a word. Moments later I saw her and the kids (Andrew and Karen included) in a pile on the floor, giggling hysterically. Okay, this may sound stupid, but all I could think about was whether or not she was imitating me."
At dinner, bottom of Page 70, Abby impersonates people from her life on Long Island.
I still think, maybe I'm making it up, that somewhere Kristy tells us that Abby was impersonating her or that scene was revisited.

It sounds like Abby impersonating Kristy didn't happen then? I honestly can't recall a time when Abby was cruel to people in order to get attention. She just liked puns.

I remember Abby doing impressions or something at lunch of SMS teachers and Kristy not being impressed.

^ Either Kristy thought it was mean or Kristy was jealous someone was stealing the attention away from her. I mean, up until Abby came along, the girls were reacting to Kristy's lunch jokes.
