I'm re-reading the always funny Mary Anne's Bad-Luck Mystery and it reminded me of a question I had from Hello, Mallory! (and in general). In Hello, Mallory! when Mal and Jessi are discussing how to organize Kids Incorporated, one of them suggests people will hire them, despite their young age, because they will offer to baby-sit together. This info ends up on their final flier. Through the course of the story, they do sit for Squirt and Becca as well as the more typical (later BSC books) the rest of Mal's siblings. My question is do they ever just sit for 2 kids (or less than 7--aside from maybe the Barrett- DeWitts) again?
Mary Anne's Bad-Luck Mystery, Top of Page 66, Original Cover. The below is from Claud/Mal's "Daddy Stew" baby-sitting job.
It was another one of those long two -person entries. They turn up in the notebook every now and then--when we're taking care of the Pike brood (they usually need two sitters), or if Jessi and Mal are sitting together, which happens sometimes, since they're younger.
Almost reminds me of Richard insisting that Mary Anne be accompanied in TSB on all jobs. Except that was a little over the top especially when MA was only sitting for Jamie. Jessi/Mal for one or two kids might have made an interesting storyline. I can just hear them both complaining about how even the BSC Clients treat them like babies, insisting they both come together or something like that!

Jessi and Mal do sit for Nina and Eleanor Marshall and the Phillips kids and I believe there are three of them. However, that was a situation where Mal needed help and called Jessi to come over, not where a client had specifically requested them to sit for 2 for the price of 1. I don't ever remember that happening except when Mal and Jessi started Kids, Inc. and sat for the Pikes and Becca & Squirt.
And MA's first sitting job was for Jamie? Darn! (I haven't read TSB yet and I was kinda hoping that her first sitting job had been for David Michael. This is because both Kristy and Claudia's first jobs were for DM and I just thought it'd be neat if MA's was as well. And that could even be extended to Stacey, who had obviously sat in NY before moving, but her first Club job was sitting for DM - because Kristy didn't want *her* first Club job to be for her own brother.)
^ You're right, she would have. In fact, Mary Anne might have been a good person for Mal to have turned out about feeling as though her parents treated her strictly or like a baby. Claudia maybe could have offerred a listening ear when Mal began to feel left out of her family.
