for me i prefer the new covers. here in the philippines bsc is being sold in bookstores again. they have this 3 books in 1. so cool I've seen those in san Fransisco too, in a non-used bookstore (albeit as "bargain books"... I prefer the old covers myself. Somehow reading those in public makes me assume I appear more "hip and nostalgic" than "sad and dorky"

I like both the old covers and the new covers. I had a lot of fun inspecting new artwork and all of that, though. Looking at the changes, especially if they used the same picture, but did minor art changes to it, is a lot of fun. And I think it's hilarious when I get books with the notebook pages filled in. I don't think I have one with anything especially funny, though.
The new covers were hard to adjust to. I remembered thinking they looked really weird when Kristy and the Dirty Diapers came out.

to me, the new covers somehow manage to look more out of date than the old ones. they're so 1995.

I never really liked the new covers. I stopped reading right before they came out, and I used to go look at the BSC in the bookstore, and when I saw the new covers I hated them. They didn't ahve the members and their offices listed in the back anymore, which was weird to me. Plus now I think they look sort of cheap and tacky. And to me, they look younger then the old covers, which I uess makes sense. But I always liked reading the BSC books because they made me feel older and mature. (I was 6-8!)

I prefer the old covers out of nostalgia. All the BSC books I remember reading growing up had the old covers.

I like the old covers because the front picture is bigger. The column of girls' heads on the margins of the new ones take up too much room. Those pictures should be labeled with the girls' names underneath for the casual readers. At least then they'd have a purpose.

Definitely old covers because every BSC book I read growing up had the old covers. The new covers came out a few years after I got into the BSC and they just didn't appeal to me all that much; the border and the pictures down the side were too distracting for me (also the absence of everyone's name and office on the back). Some of the new covers I like because they make improvements on some of the pictures of the old covers, but it's old covers all the way for me .

That's the word! Distracting. The side pictures and the new borders always seemed that way to me, I preferred the solid colors of the old covers.

I like the old ones for the post parts, but the new ones don't bother me too much. I am just trying to complete my collection, whether it is the new or old covers doesn't matter to me. I like the old ones because, like others said, I grew up with them. I like the new ones because the pictures usually are improved.

I prefer the new covers because on the new covers the BSC's is more like how I allways have realised them.

I prefer the old covers, because like a lot of you, they're the ones I grew up with. I agree that the newer designs date the books more than the old covers. I also find the new covers a little distracting as well. There are a few new covers that I prefer to the old ones. I like the new Claudia and Mean Janine, Kristy for President and Kristy and the Baby Parade. I think they're improvements.

I prefer the older covers, too, even though the only BSC books I purchased new were the new covers (right at the end of the series - I remember buying them out of the school book order). However, those weren't the first books I got - I can't, for the life of me, remember the very first one, but I know The Ghost at Dawn's House, Mallory and the Mystery Diary, and Jessi Ramsey, Pet-Sitter were three of them, and I had the old covers. So I just prefer them, that's all

I like the old covers best too, though I just saw the newer version of Kristy for President in another thread, which I prefer to the old one.

^I like the new kristy for president book cover too. I'm not sure why Hodges chose to illustrate kristy making posters with her family on the original cover, instead of something dealing with debates at SMS or something.

I think most people prefer the old covers, but I don't think that necessarily makes them more sellable. People will buy them regardless if they need the books I agree.
