grow up thinking that Stoneybrook was a real place? My family went on a trip across the country when I was just out of 6th grade. When we got to Connecticut, I said that I wanted to at lease drive through Stoneybrook. NO ONE knew what I was talking about. I poured over the map. I couldn't find it on the map, but somehow that didn't clue me in as to the fact that it wasn't a real place. I just assumed it was really small and not included.
I'm not sure when I realized it wasn't a real place, but I was so bummed!!!

IIRC, the "About the Author" page in the new cover books specifically states Stoneybrook is made up (though I have no idea how they worked that into a short bio of Ann).

I thought/hoped that Stoneybrook was real myself. Good question, old hickory! If there is, "we" should all meet up there one day as part of a BSC get together. It would be cool to see and be in as many "real" places that the girls visited, especially ones "close" to Stoneybrook.

I googled, and I see no Washington Mall in CT. However I am all for a BSC get together in Stamford!

Too bad they didn't have the new book information in the old books. They made no mention of that in the OG books. I am also bummed to find that there is no Washington Mall in Stamford!! What about a ballet studio across from a coffee shop and near a Burger King?! LOL!

I never thought Stoneybrook was real, but I liked discovering that Stamford was real as a kid. I saw it listed on the back of a shampoo bottle.

I never really thought about Stoneybrook being real or not. I just thought it was like made up cities on TV shows.

I don't think I ever thought it was real either, I remember when I first started reading the BSC I pronounced it as Storybook, CT in my head. It sounds like a place in a fairytale now that I think of it.

I never thought of Stoneybrook as a real place, mostly because I read the back of the book where it said that Stoneybrook wasn't a real place.

In my defense, in 1992, the books didn't have that information in the back.

In my defense, in 1992, the books didn't have that information in the back. I don't know how old you were in 1992, but I was an 11 year old with not so hot geography skills. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't have thought Stoneybrook was real.
