We talk a lot about other series we like. If I haven't read the series in question I'll scan through the list of titles and make judgement based on that. If you hadn't read any BSC and were given a list of the titles (not counting mysteries because those are all strange), what do you think your first impressions of each girl would be? Do you think they would be accurate?
I think Mary Anne sounds just as boy-crazy as Stacey. (Three books with Logan in the title, plus Great Romance and Too Many Boys). I don't really think of her that way, but I guess you could say she was specific boy-crazy for a while. She also sounds very confident (Saves the Day, To the Rescue, Breaks the Rules), which I don't think was true at all.
Stacey sounds like a drama queen. (The Truth, Boy-Crazy, Mistake, Choice, Emergency, Ex-Best Friend and Ex-Boyfriend, Lie, Bad Girls, Vs. the BSC, geez practically every book...) And yet I don't think of her like that.
Dawn sounds like the All-American teenage girly-girl. (Little Miss Stoneybrook, Older Boy, Big Date, Big Sleepover, We Heart Kids Club, Whitney Friends Forever) I don't see that either.
Any thoughts on these or the other girls' book titles? And do we have a thread anywhere that lists the books for each girl separately?
Cool new thread. I agree about Mary Anne. Also, if someone had not read many BSC books they might think Mary Anne for example truly fit the bill of her "chapter 2 description" in being the shy, sensitive, good friend."
I thought I had posted a list of books by each sitter. I looked in the "general series discussion" and didn't it. I'll go do so now.
Looking at these makes me think I would see Claudia as someone that trouble and sorrow follow! Phantom calls, bad joke, sad goodbye, great search, crazy peaces, recipe for danger, middle school drop out, terrible truth....you see where I'm going....
I had the thought that some of Mal's titles make it sound like she's a brooding star of some sort either in a positive (Dream Horse, All-New) or soap opera/ tv movie way as in "On Strike," "Twins," and "Christmas Wish."
Stacey seems like she's one of the popular girls at school "Mean Girls" style. Boy-Crazy Stacey, Stacey’s Ex-Best Friend, Stacey and the Cheerleaders, Stacey and the Bad Girls, Stacey and the Fashion Victim, Stacey’s Ex-Boyfriend, Stacey and the Stolen Hearts
Dawn sounds like she has a troubled family life that she runs away from. Dawn’s Wicked Stepsister, Dawn’s Family Feud, Dawn’s Big Move, Farewell Dawn.
Claudia's have to do with family and her household, like claudia and mean janine, claudia and the sad goodbye, claudia and the great search, the mystery at claudia's house.....plus she has a title called keep out claudia, oh the irony!
