When I used to read these books when I was little, I used to think what it'd be like to have one of these girls as an older sister. So who would you have liked to of had for a big sister and why?
My vote would be Mary Anne. I think she would be a good big sister that you could talk to if something was bothering you. She's generally a really good listener and it seems like she'd be able to offer you advice about growing up. She also seems like she'd take the role of being a big sister very seriously and would want to spend time with you.

Mallory. She's really patient and I think that we'd have a lot of fun writing stories together.

For a big sister, I also voted for Mal. She was super sweet with Claire and Margo, taking them on "teddy bear picnics" and I loved the "Explorer Day," despite wishing it had been Pikes only, no Jessi.

honestly my relationship with my sister is exactly like abby and anna's relationship, so i guess i would have to pick abby. but if i wanted someone different, i would pick jessi. (sorry zoar.) she's the only one who never fought with her siblings. technically stacey never fought with any siblings either but she would be a horrible big sister.

Lol, no problem, to each their own. That is also what makes this board fun, hearing others takes. It's not that I "hate" Jessi, just that usually her books are are ballet centered, something that holds no interest for me, and therefore boring. ITA about Stacey, she did make an awful "almost sister." As I re-read now, I'm noticing in the later books especially unless Charlotte is being sat for or otherwise involved, there is zero mention of her. I think she could have easily been incorporated into a chapter 2 for Stacey. I still wish Stacey had invited her to the Thanksgiving with all the families. (I'm edging closer to that book so that's what made me think of it).

How can we judge Stacey's big sister abilities when she didn't have any siblings? Are we just going by Charlotte? I think because of Stacey's family moving back and forth Charlotte knew she wouldn't be able to "depend" on her quite as much as, say, Kristy or Mary Anne or someone who actually was firmly in Stoneybrook. But the beginning of their relationship was indicative, I think, of how Stacey would relate to a sister--listening, offering advice, taking on shopping trips, etc.
As for me I guess I would go with Mallory. Now that I think about it Mallory really was the most like my older sister growing up. Patient, loved to read, organize our playtime/activities, etc.

I wouldn't want any of them as an older sister. The real one I have is plenty. ;D

^I was going on the way Stacey treated Charlotte. I know Stacey and her mom grew closer after the divorce, but I never really pictured Stacey as someone who would enjoy hanging out with family (often).

I voted Abby even though I haven't read all her books, she seems fun and easy going and she also seems to care a lot about her family.

I'd like to have Jessi, Mary Anne and Abby as my sisters. They seem the sweetest and would make perfect siblings just to talk to.

Stacey, Mary Anne or Mal could be cool.
I am a guy so this adds a totally different perspective.
