I loved the checkered pattern of the Little sister books, they were so cute.

I don't think too many boys read Little Sister books, but I wonder if it was better than having flowers or hearts or something on the cover. Checkered pattern is pretty gender neutral, despite when it was hot pink or something...

^The Héritage Jeunesse editions of the LS books did have flowers or hearts on the cover! There was a cover style with a checkerboard-like pattern of abstract flower shapes instead of plain squares, and there was another cover style with little hearts!
