I just thought Mallory was supposed to be the comic relief of the books, not that Ann didn't like her. I think Mallory would really be one of the most fun characters to write about because of all the wacky crap that got thrown at her.

I agree with Abby being the least popular because she wasn't as well known. The more I read about, the more I like her. I don't remember ever loving Mallory and Jessi, although I did want to be like Mallory in the writing sense... and I had a mop of red hair and wore glasses.

^I absolutely love red hair. I think it is gorgeous! I actually always thought Mallory was really pretty, no matter what the book said, because of her red hair.

^My Grandma always wished she had red hair and admired it on one of her friends. As for Mal, I hold out hope that one day, since beauty seems to be a major sticking point in Stoneybrook, she shocks the heck out of anyone who gave her grief for being "sturdy" with unruly red hair.

I think Mallory was going through her awkward phase. That's about the age that people look like of gawky. My hair is also a big, unruly mess, but I have a Chi (hair straightener) and it's amazing! My hair isn't bright red. It's become darker as I've gotten older, but it's still definitely red.

Yeah, your hair is a Mallory-esque colour (and I mean absolutely no offense with that!)

Sometimes I do that too and forget who on here I already have as fb friends and who I don't! There are so many of us on here, it's hard to keep track sometimes.

I'm going to jump on Steph's bandwagon and put my Facebook up, too, since I like to connect with BSC fans and fellow board members: www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=28109937 Hopefully this link works. Anyway, I don't think it's that fair to include Abby, just because she doesn't have the fighting chance like the others do. PLUS, what about people who came into the series later and Abby was always around? I'm assuming Jessi, Mallory, Dawn (and Abby) are all somewhere at the bottom of the list.

Excluding Abby, Mal, and Jessi, I would say that among the fandom now it's probably Dawn. Among readers when the books were being published, it was probably poor MA. ETA: *jumps on bandwagon* www.facebook.com/BuckinghamAlice

Ann M. Martin totally based her red-hair blues on Anne Shirley

^ I love Anne Shirley! I know this isn't exactly the same, but I'm thinking of re-watching Road to Avonlea.
