I agree. When Dawn left for California and Shannon took over as alternate officer, regular books should have been written about her, not Dawn in California. I always thought it seemed weird that books were still written about Dawn even though she wasn't really a member of the Babysitters Club anymore.

Maybe Ann didn't knew that Shannon wasn't going to be always be an alternate member and that sooner or later, she was going to be an associate member again, so that's why Shannon didn't get any extra books while Dawn was away.

I wish there would have been, too. I liked reading her books because it gave us something different. I wasn't a big fan of Logan's books, but I didn like Shannon's.

I always thought it seemed weird that books were still written about Dawn even though she wasn't really a member of the Babysitters Club anymore. Yeah, but they did that with Stacey too. She got the book when she lived in NYC and then when she dropped out of the club. I guess I never really cared enough about Shannon to want more books about her. I really liked her in Kristy's Mystery Admirer when she was mostly just Kristy's friend, but the more she became a friend to the whole group the less interesting she was to me.

I agree with what azuhana said. I think that the publishers knew Dawn was coming back and didn't think it would be worth it to have a Shannon book. Plus it would mess up the continuity of the books, with a Shannon title being thrown in there randomly...maybe they thought it would look funny?
Also, maybe they thought replacing Dawn books with Shannon ones would have upset Dawn fans. And perhaps they wanted Dawn's California books since they're different from the ones set in Stoneybrook (We <3 Kids Club, California setting, different clients, etc.)
Although I agree that a Shannon book would have been awesome. I do like some of her babysitting chapters around this time (like when she sat for Natalie Springer and made fresh-squeezed lemonade).

It's wierd how Stacey, even as a non-member, still got a book but Shannon couldn't. I know Stacey is/was the most popular but still... I wonder if Shannon simply wasn't popular enough to have any books when she was an associate member.

I think the reason Shannon didn't have any books because she wasn't that popular and wasn't consider as an official member like the others.

Shannon just seemed like a "filler" until Dawn got back, so Scholastic could have some new plots in California

I would have liked to see a real Shannon book, but it seems they probably did know Dawn would be back. Maybe the California books were popular. Boggles my mind as they're my least favorites, but whatever.

I thought that they wrote the California books to see if anyone would be interested enough in a spinoff series (California Diaries?)

^ Could be true.
I was also surprised that Shannon showed up on the cover of Babysitter's Remember. I know she's shown up on many Kristy covers -- Snobs, Secret Admirer and Sister War -- but it seems to me that they always tried to not include her for some reason. She's almost completely absent from cover materials during the time she was Alternate Officer.
Also, it would have been nice to see a cover with all of the members, including Shannon and Logan. I think the closest we get is Aloha Babysitters (?)-- Logan's on it but Shannon isn't.

Kristy and Mal aren't on Aloha Babysitters though. Logan managed to squeeze onto the cover with the original seven a few times. He was part of the pyramid on Sea City, Here We Come and was part of the cast in Starring the BSC.

So there isn't really any covers were all the sitters (including Logan and Shannon) are featured. I guess the closest would be Complete Guide and BSC in the USA, but alas, they're without Shannon and Logan. Maybe Shannon wasn't featured on the covers because she would be confused a lot with Stacey (or Dawn, since the artists are notorious for making her with shorter blonde hair).
