I just remembered that I read Karen's Witch long before I read California Girls and Mallory and the Mystery Diary. Too bad I didn't remember it the other day when I posted that it was probably California Girls that was the first BSC I ever read.

Kristy's Great Idea. I got it from the library when it was brand new, but I didn't find any other BSC books either at the library or in stores until I bought a copy of Kristy's Big Day over a year later, so at first I was kind of confused about where Dawn had come from.

Baby-Sitters On Board - that's the one I think it was, not California Girls. Although it could have been Summer Vacation... ah well. The first one I remember reading entirely was Boy Crazy Stacey. Still one of my faves.

I'm pretty OCD now about starting things from the beginning. It's interesting how few of us started with Kristy's Great Idea.

Stacey and the Haunted Masquerade - I was a late comer to the world of BSC obsession. That was in 2000/2001. my collection was pretty sparse - I remember getting Kristys big day from a charity shop in Derby in 2004 and being totally excited about it... Then I discovered amazon and ebay and spent the next 5 years collecting them all.

Poor Mallory! (Like Greer, I also started the books because of ordering through a book club but my Mom didn't sign me up for it, it was one of those Scholastic order booklet things that your teachers gave out in school.) I also got Claudia and the Middle School Mystery and Mary Anne vs. Logan at the same time. I was hooked by those and went back to read from the beginning. But those first three and especially Poor Mallory! have always held a special place in my heart.

I used to get so excited when I saw the brownish box with the red stripe on the teacher's desk.

My first Book was Dawn Saves the Planet. I fell in love with Dawn ever since. For awhile i only read the Dawn or Mary Anne books (I read Mary Anne's because Dawn was sure to be in them more as they lived together after a time!) I've long since read most of them though. lol and ironically the first BSC episode I ever saw was Dawn Saves the Trees...Guess I def have a thing for Dawn!

Mine was through the scholastic book club as well, but it was on my brother's order form as I was in the first grade at the time. My mom said to me, "Hey, I'm going to sign you up to get these," and I was like sure, whatever. Little did she know what she was starting!

I'd forgotten all about the brown boxes with red strings. The Scholastic book orders were how I got most of my books as a kid too. I could never wait for the end of the day when the teacher finally passed the books out.

Haha, same here. Once when my sister was in eighth grade she asked me to order Little Women for her (I ordered Harriet the Spy for myself and when the teacher gave me the huge book kids were like "you're going to read THAT?"

Mine was Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls - my mom actually brought it home when I was 9 from a yard sale and after that I just started checking them out at the library and she'd bring me home more. CATPHC is still my FAVORITE BSC book of all times. I LOVE IT!

I have no clue what the first BSC book I ever read was. "On Board" was my most "vivid" memory of the series when I began re-collecting. My favorite book of the series is KGI. CATPHC is my second favorite but the one book that is easiest/most fun to go back and re-read after finishing.
