I remember reading On Board for the first time. My family was driving from Disney World. It was a two day car trip and I was rushing to finish the book before we returned home. When we finally got back I had a few pages left and I insisted on staying in the car an extra 10 minutes to finish the book. I didn't know the book was about Disney World at the time and remember thinking I should've read the book on the trip there instead in preparation.

that's like three people whose first book was on board. how funny. I wonder if it's because that was the first bigger book. Maybe people thought it was going to be more challenging than it was.

I was excited because it took place in Disney World (a place I'd still love to visit). I thought it was dibbly fresh how the girls took a cruise first to the Bahamas and then onto DW.

Too lazy to check if I replied. The first one I got through was Kristy's Big Day or Keep Out Claudia. I remember reading a little bit of Jessi Ramsey: Pet Sitter years before becoming a fan in the beginning, and checking out Mallory and the Trouble with Twins cause of liking the cover, but not reading it on time and having to return it to the library.

The first one I ever read was Kristy's Great Idea. I checked it out from the library.

I started with the Little Sister books, so I think mine was either Karen's Witch or Karen's Roller Skates. Yeesh, I remember that even when I was Karen's age it was painful reading about Karen embarrassing herself by crashing Mrs. Porter's party.

Being the type of person that I am, it really bugs me that I can't remember for sure which one I read first, but now, the more I think about it, I think it may actually have been Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls.

Karen's School Picture and Karen's Surprise I believe. I was interested in the series after my mom bought me Secret Diary and I enjoyed it.

I read Little Sister first as well. If I remember correctly my first Little Sister book was a super special as well " Karen's Plane Trip". I remember they had it in my classroom at school.

I liked that Karen's mystery kind of intertwined with The BSC Super special "Snowbound".

There are two titles I remember being at the beginning of my addiction to the series. #4 Mary-Anne saves the day & #19 Claudia and the bad joke. Finally tracking down #19 as an adult gave me the greatest feeling! I was a huge reader as a kid. I had a different book in my hands almost every day (I was a shy kid, my favorite place was in the library). I remember diving into the BSC series because I fell in love with Mary-Anne and I felt we were very similar. I still remember the excitement I used to feel at the start of each book.

^ Awesome stories. Thanks for signing up and sharing!
I just read Mary Anne's Makeover last night and I thought that if someone was reading this book for their 1st time BSC experience, they'd definitely get the wrong impression of what the books are like. This is filled with SO MUCH drama and cattiness that you don't find in every "sweet as apple pie" BSC book. It's in a few, but I can just picture someone reading - like - Jessi's Wish and being like, "is this the same series!?"

I can see them promoting Mary Anne's Makeover more these days than a book like Jessi's Wish. It fits in better with the snooty teenage Gossip Girl type series that became popular a few years ago. (Of course, it's still an extremely watered down G rated version.) I see them trying to lure in new readers with a book about catty girl drama.
