In many, many of the BSC books, writing letters (and postcards) is a very normal part of their lives, soemthing that's changed so much in such a relatively short time. So let's discuss letters from the books and in general here.

Interesting that the club dues started out at $.50, which is what the USPS would like to raise the price of one stamp to. Who do you think would have still been big letter writers if postage was that high in the mid-80s?

Adjusted for inflation I wonder whether postage is more or less expensive today or in 1986.

^I don't know. I just pictured Kristy giving everyone a pep talk. "Would you rather keep our business alive for another week or write a stinking letter?!"

^I don't know. I just pictured Kristy giving everyone a pep talk. "Would you rather keep our business alive for another week or write a stinking letter?!" Especially since they write so many postcards that are like, "Hello. I am sitting on an airplane. It hasn't taken off yet. When my meal comes I am going to put my salt and pepper packets in my barf bag and bring them home with me because that's what Jeff does and for some reason I think it's the coolest idea ever. How is everything back in Stoneybrook? Has anything exciting happened in the past hour since you cried and hugged me good-bye?"

^ Lol! Thank you for the smile, Wanderingfrog, I needed that. I think one of the biggest problems with their letters (especially Stacey's in Sea City) was that they'll write a vague sentence about something happening and leave it at that. I doubt they call each other during trips, the receiver has to wait another week to find out the mystery by that time its over. This is from someone (me) who loves getting friendly mail. Maybe "saving postage" was the true reason they always traveled together? O/T of sorts, I still wish we could have read about the Kishis reading one of Claud's "Who are you?" letters. I wonder what curious mail person (reading it) thought of that!

The thing that kills me is that they go away for a long weekend and write everyone they know twice or three times. You will be home before she gets your letter, genius...

^It would be funny (and probably very interesting to us) to see them all compiled. It would be a book of all their letters and highlights of adventures. We could see the growth and in some cases sadly ghostwriter ruination of the characters an storylines. What might be fun is if we did this, after each letter we could write a (fan) response back--sort of a what might whoever got the letter would have wrote back.

Should we try this? We could each either take one Super Special or a couple cards in one book. I think it'd probably be less confusing to do this book by book. Could make a postcard thread per book in the MA's Journal section. After scanning in/typing up a card, you(as the card recpient would reply). Example would be if Kristy send a card to Claudia. You as Claudia would write back to Kristy. We'd get to see some continuity of shared news whil;e having a little fun. Anyone?
