I'm staring to collect the BSC mysteries as the physical books. Bought a whole bunch and now have 1-14, 17, 20 and Super Mystery 1-2! I've just reread Stacy and the missing ring and was appalled at Claudia. Some best friend! I think she was just mad that she was getting any jobs and took out on Stacey but all the other members stood behind her and I loved that Mrs Prezzioso stood behind her also. She knows the BSC well. The Gardellas weren't too weird-there's nothing wrong with treating pets like your children. I do the exact same thing to my two fur babies-well, maybe not to that extreme. For example I will not have them eat on the dining room table with us!

^I'm trying valiantly not to have my kitten make a habit of jumping on the table, but I know she loves to jump to high places. Sigh!

^the kitchen table is the only place where our cats are not allowed, and they totally know it.

What did you do to dissuade? She's driving me crazy.

What did you do to dissuade? She's driving me crazy. Just tell them "no." Or pick them up and put them on the floor. Our cats are 10+ years old, so they know exactly what they can and cannot do. So we can just say "[cat name], what are you doing?" and they will get down.

Awww. That's how our older cat is. He's ten, so it's been a while since I've been a kitty wrangler.

You can also get a spray bottle. We don't have to use it anymore. Just picking it up is enough!

Spray bottles don't work on our cats because they LOVE water! Honest! They like to play around in the rain for a bit (light rain, not heavy rain) and They'd get into the shower with me if I'd let them. But I don't because its kind of weird. I mostly say "no" in a distinctive tone of voice and they usually do as they're told. Plus they hate loud noises more than anything and a very loud clap from me or mum makes them obey too. Mason (boy cat, Maddi's brother) thinks he's a dog. I tell him to sit and he actually does! Every time! He also stands on his hind legs begging for pats. Maybe I should have named him Dog. We're going off topic here but its fun to talk about pets.

The part I liked most in this book was the sitters thinking back to the big fight/near-break-up they had back in book #4 and initially actually really not remembering its cause (and Kristy laughing at it having been "job-hogging").

There was actually a recycled plot point in this book, although I think this one came first. It happened in "Mary Anne Breaks The Rules". A BSC member is accused of something unorthodox, and the girls worry that they will lose clients when it gets spread around. At the same time, the number of clients calling dials down considerably. After everything is cleared up, the clients apologize to the sitter and reveal that they never told anyone about it. After that, the amount of clients calling rises up with no explanation.
Apart from that, the book was all right, except that everything seems flimsy. Why would the Gardellas let Stacey back in their house, even if she was with another member, if they were so worried about getting their possessions stolen that they weren't going to call the BSC again? Doesn't it seem a bit strange that Stacey found the ring on her second visit, as if she had "borrowed" it and just didn't want to give it back when it was first discovered missing so just replaced it - that is a possibility the family could have guessed if they were so adamant that Stacey must have had the ring the whole time.
Lastly, Claudia is literally the only person who knows Stacey well and thinks she could have taken the ring. That really speaks badly for their friendship, if literally EVERYONE ELSE thinks Stacey is innocent, and the only person who doesn't is her best friend. It's not the only time I've disliked the way Claudia's acted, but it really annoyed me here. She had a major fight with Stacey in "Stacey's Lie" too, but at least she had some reason there (although I think she went way overboard). This time, I really think Stacey doesn't deserve any blame - all she did was lust after a diamond ring, and then get falsely accused of stealing one.

I am furious at Mrs Gardella . She has pets and it never occurred to her to check if they took the ring ? She accused Stacey and was going to punish the club by telling the other clients ? I'm glad the clients backed the girls they've known them longer then Mrs Gardella. Did she even apologise to Stacey for accusing her ?

I'm glad the clients backed the girls they've known them longer then Mrs Gardella. Did she even apologise to Stacey for accusing her ? She acted quite strangely about it, but I'm pretty sure she apologized after she found out what had really happened to the ring. When Stacey first called and offered to babysit for free until she'd paid off the ring, I remember Mrs Gardella said something like "Well, that's very generous of you, considering you insist that you didn't take the ring." I ge the feeling she did sort of wonder after the initial accusation, which might have been why the Prezziosos were the only family they got around to mentioning it to, but with the ring still missing, she couldn't think of any other explanation than Stacey had it and was afraid to own up. As a matter of fact, I think Mallory or someone brought up the fact that Stacey wanted a diamond ring, but unlike Claudia, her statement was just an innocent "What a weird coincidence!" comment.

^ Yes, Mrs. Gardella apologized a lot and even called the club at the end to apologize again. The part I liked most in this book was the sitters thinking back to the big fight/near-break-up they had back in book #4 and initially actually really not remembering its cause (and Kristy laughing at it having been "job-hogging"). I liked that bit too! And it's realistic. My best friend and I had this big misunderstanding/fight in middle school and couldn't even remember what it was about later on. Even though there were a lot of "coincidences" in this book, I still enjoyed it. I can't really explain why, I just enjoyed the pacing of the story and Stacey's dilemma. It's hard to be accused of doing something you know you didn't do. I'm glad the club members and Mrs. P backed her up. I, too, was horrified by the way Claudia treated her. Of all people, Claudia should've known better. She did apologize but still...

She looks like she's choking that cat. We know why. I really hate that denim shirt with hearts on her boobs.
